Also they knew the mountaines terrain favored the defenders,

hitler tried to justify his take over and occupation of other countries as being war against communists, Jews, subversives, illegal take over of German land after WW1, but none of the criteria would fit to justify an invasion of Switzerland.

If Spain stayed out of the fighting then what were the Spanish Blue Division and Blue Squadron doing fighting alongside the Germans in Russia, these men were trained in Germany before being sent to the Russian Front under German control??

The swiss was not entirely neutral they sold items that enabled the NAzi war machine continue to run, as an example Ball bearings, Oil steel, rubber and they handled the financial resources of the Third Reich.

They aslo forced escapees back to Nazi Germany.

THey where jsut as guilty as alot of countries where about the war.

Spain was a Fascist country at the time, but they stayed outof the fighting but did hold escaped POWs as hostages until their government ransmoned them.

The Nazi excuse became they invaded worldwide places to launch the German Nationals who have been being mistreated, and the will for extra dwelling area, a declare that could desire to infrequently be used in mountainous Switzerland. Then they had to occupy different worldwide places to grant the nazi conflict device with weapons and nutrition factors. And the excuse to invade the East became to defeat communisum.

The Swiss terrain is very formidable making it impossible to invade, and it would have been a waste of men and time because they were no threat to Germany and they already had enough enemies.

1. Switzerland was "neutral"
2. They had to have somewhere safe where to put their money and Switzerland is THE bank of the rich (legally obtained money - and sometimes possibly not...)

They needed one country where they were able to talk to the enemy. And like the one above me said, their money was there.

By the way the Swiss Army has been and is one of the toughest in the world.
