I asked this question a little earlier, but I would like some more opinions...
I'm moving out of my house once I turn 18 this weekend...My parents are emotionally abusive and discourage me in everything I do.
I would like to bring basically almost all I won, clothes, music, books, old valuble dolls, etc...
But my parents said, if they bought it, they own it.
Others say the oposite..
which is true,
and what am I allowed to take...

technically, you should take all of your clothes and anything personal that you bought or was a gift. But no furniture or anything like that.
I'm sorry that you've had it cruddy. At some point in your life you'll understand your parents and will mend fences, your situation is not unlike many others.
YOU MUST find a life though, don't go being some losers sluttygirlfriend at 18. Take a direction. Do yourself a favor before you bail. Take a ride around town and look at the crappy jobs people have and read the paper about the cruddy life people live and CHOOSE to at least make life worth living. Good luck!!

you may legally circulate out as quickly as you turn 18. you would be a criminal person and your mom won't be able to do something. I moved out incredibly much 2 weeks once I grew to become 18 and that i nevertheless hadn't graduated intense college, nonetheless commencement at that factor replaced into 2 weeks away.

You aren't allowed to take anything unless you bought it with your own money. It sounds like your parents may not have been the best parents, but they have provided for you and given you a home, food, and clothes on your back your whole life.
Take those things that you've purchased, and thankfully leave. They may come around one day, but it's not worth contributing to your emotional state, they are just things!!!!

If you received gifts from them they are yours. And any thing that you yourself have purchased is yours. If your bed was a gift it is yours. The bedding same thing. Clothes, well I am sure they wouldn't want you going naked out the door, so discuss with them what you can take with you to survive and get along with for awhile, until you can replace them. And ask them if they are going to just toss them out, (for example) then why can't you take them. Furniture, is again theirs if they bought it. Depends on how nasty they want to be....Music, I would pick out a few to get by with and same with the books. Dolls if they were given to you by other family members such as a Grandmother, or Auntie, they would be yours. Gosh Good Luck.....to you

technically, although there is no way they could ever use it,. if they bought it, they own it.
it's a technical legal thing that doesn't normally come up. they DID pay for it, but they bought it for you. however, it wasn't a gift and it was because you lived with them. anything you bought for yourself, or was given to you as a Christmas present, is yours, as long as it wasn't a present from them. if they want to push the issue, and have proof that they bought it, then it is theirs.
just take what you can, and earn money to rebuy what you want.. if they are abusive then it's better to be without a few things, or even a lot of things, than to try and convince them to let you have "your" stuff.

What's really important here, the stuff, or getting away?
If they really want to make an issue of it, then I'd say it's best to just get out. You can buy more things.
Strictly speaking, anything that they GAVE TO YOU is your property, but if they make a big issue of it, it's better to leave the stuff, and just take what you need.

The law would let you take clothes and mementoes. Nothing else.

You're allowed to take all of your belongigns! If it's your, then it's yours! They cant legally take it away from you, it'd be stealing! If they gave it to you, then it's still yours.
