try a board game. the monopoly games have come out with some really cool ones. themed and now the new electronic ones. just think about what people did before computers & video games. they even have the dvd trivia games. if you look around i'm sure you'll find something. good luck.

-bake from scratch... I have baby sat well over 65 kids and all kids that are able to be involved have loved it (taste test the batter and the final product! mmm it's fun!) Decorative options (but all sorts of stuff to decorate with to... I always tell the kids I don't know if it's any good... I think we should taste test first... and they all love it!)
Arts and craft ideas (search online for around the house art and craft ideas) do arts and crafts while baking the snack)
pop in a movie when your snack is done baking (or make some no bake oatmeal drop cookies! YUMMY) and enjoy!
This is a good 4 hours of fun for any child ages (if really smart) about 1 1/2 years old and up (I am 22 almost and I still love this routine! I do it with my girls when I can, they are 2 1/2 years and 4 years almost)
After that let him have some down time by him self (allow a set time to play a game... 1/2 hour-1 hour) then make up stories together and draw pictures to go with it!

Teach him some card games - crib, war, crazy eights, etc.
Play some board games.
Read some poetry, then each write some - haiku, cinquain are easy and short ones to do.
Have him read aloud to you, and you to him.
Put on some trance music and DANCE!
Bake a cake from scratch together - or some cookies. Or make buns!
Play SOS.
Hide n seek.
Have him interview you about your life, and then he can write your biography. You do the same for him.
JUST PLAY. Wrestle, tickle.... build a fort with chairs and blankets.

My 10 year old loves playing board games when we have time like that. In fact we are going to do that today, it's the first Saturday we have had "off" in awhile!

Play cards or a board game. Make a cake or a whole meal with his help. Or pop in a movie and have popcorn.

There are lots of great craft projects you could do together. How about making an undersea diorama, or a space diorama? You could collect horse chestnuts and make zany creatures out of them. Or make veggie creatures, photograph them with a digital camera, and make captions for what they might be saying to each other! How about making juggling balls from coloured balloons, and learning to juggle? You could bake snowflake cookies, or make pepermint mice (or robots) together. Have a look at my webiste (link below) for instructions and photos for these crafts and lots more. Have fun!
