I am an atheist.
An atheist is someone who has no beliefs in any god/s.
There are no other requirements associated with being an atheist other than the one sentence above. There is no secret organization, or religion, or rituals to observe.

The best thing is to start with the word itself. It simply means not theist or without theism. Once you see that it just means being religiously neutral you also see than many of the assumptions fall away.
Any generalization is impossible because aside from not being a theist an atheist is as likely as anyone else to fit into any other category.
Atheists are not a group and atheism isn't a belief. Many people try to attach other beliefs onto atheists but again since the only commonality is that they are not theists it's impossible to make them stick.
And while you may occasionally see groups who say they are atheist groups they speak for no one beyond their members.
And lastly atheists are just as fallible as anyone else. Some make as many mistakes in defining the word as any theist. I even see some atheists answering this question who are off on tangents with their definitions saying why 'atheists' don't believe or saying atheists 'choose' not to believe but again the only commonality is the atheists are not theists.

An Atheist is a person who deny the existence of the God of the Holy Bible and claims to be non-religious. Yet, at the same time worships or has obsessions about himself, politicians, scientist, sports heroes, movie stars, rock stars and etc. and even with material things like money, possessions and the works of his own hands. Things like these blindly serve as his god.
The most dangerous atheists are wolves in sheepskins, those who use religion to gain power over the masses to carry out their own evil will. Atheists feel accountable to no one but themselves, and will do most anything to further themselves if they can get away with it.

Atheists do not believe in God. Point blank, they have no beliefs because they feel they have been given no proof or insufficient proof to believe in anything outside of the tangible.

An atheist is a person who has chosen not to believe in any god or gods. They are just people on a journey thru life, like the rest of us. They choose to believe in what they can experience with their senses and what can be proven thru science.

Atheist is someone who has no beleifs in a deity of any kind. We atheists don't beleive in afterlife and we concentrate on making something of this life, the only one we beleive we have.
