Catholics often say "welcome home" to converts; when I went through RCIA I found out why. I was absolutely certain that I had finally come home.
Welcome home to you also, my sister.

I teach RCIA in my parish. Yes, peace of mind and purpose in life are always the result of drawing closer to God. And becoming a more active and knowledgeable member of the Body of Christ, His Church, always brings us closer to Him.

It should be a great help. In my group there is a lot of sharing of experiences. And the instructor encourages us to ask questions. Its nice to be in a place where answers not only come from the Bible, but are supported by history and philosophy as well.
It is amazing to me to understand how many of our Protestant traditions can only be traced back to the 16th century while the Catholic ones go back to the first century or even back to Jewish customs.

I went through it at a time when I still thought religion could bring me some kind of peace of mind. It worked for a little while, but then the same pesky logical problems came and destroyed my fantasy again. I know now that any religion is just an artificial construct and can bring no lasting peace.

I used to be a Roman Catholic until I started doing research on the history of catholicism. All catholics should read the historical, documented book by Eric Jon Phelps, Vatican Assassins.
