Depends on the area of the body, for example spine is painful no matter who is giving the injection. Likewise it depends on the size of the needle, IV needle hurts more than the ordinary injection needle. Moreover what is being injected, iron hurts more than vaccination. Then the person who is giving it, do they do it all the time like a Nurse, or now and again? Glad to report I had a bone marrow biopsy, really big needle but did not feel a thing. It is always advisable to rub the area after the injection has been given, so the 'substance' does not stay under the skin in one spot but spreads out. If you are worried or concerned they can use a topical anesthetic to deaden the area before injecting.

I never thought the needle was painful, it was the injection that hurt more. When the fluid is pushed into the muscle, it doesn't exactly feel good. It also aches for a couple of days.

if the person who is giving them is in a good mood there is no pain. sorry but being a senior i have had more than my share of shots, and more or less it boils down to what kind of day the person giving them are having.

shots in and of themselves are not painful, but it depends strongly on the person who is administering the shot, cause some nurses and doctors can be very rough.
