Set your input signasl as close to the native resolution of your TV as you can. It sounds like, in your case, thats 720P.

Try both and pick the one with the better picture.

If you set your input to 720p, the box does all the deinterlacing. If it is satellite, it comes 720p to begin with.

If you set your input to 1080i, your TV does all the deinterlacing to its native resolution (720p).

720p is probably better, but you don't lose anything by trying

It's all an optical illusion so what I see is different to what you see. 1080i has better definition, but some people find 720p easier to watch because there's no flicker. Try them both and see which you prefer.
