I go to school where almost all of my friend's families are illegal immigrants. They live in crammed apartments with 3 families and their parents all work in factories, construction or waitressing (not that those jobs are bad, at leats they are bringing in money for their families.) they are all great people who are not at fault- their parents brought them here and it is not fair for people to be so prejudiced againgt it. I am against illegal immigration, but don't blame kids who grow up in America and its their parents fault they are illegal! They can't go to college or get a good job wothout being legal, blame their parents for bestowing those hardships on them. If they try to become legal, they might just get deported. That has happened to people I know.

This is a hard question. And no it's not the fault of the kids whos parents decided to come here illegally.

This is one of those adult things that has many shades of gray. Meaning, no easy answers. If anyone looks at any subject and only sees black and white (only sees one way to look at it, only one right way) you know they are narrow minded ppl.

I know an illegal Mexican immigrant. He had graduated from highschool in Mexico, and was accepted at a college. But his mom was not able to work and he had two younger brothers.
He decided that he had to go to the US in order to support them. He could support himself, and stay. But to support all of them, he had to come here.

In theory, I am in favor of strengthening the border. I don't want illegal Mexican immigrants coming into our country.
But in real life, not theory, I don't blame him for coming here. If I had had the bad luck to be born in Mexico, I probably would come also.

I get so angry at the Mexican government! They are so corrupt and greedy that they ruin their nations economy so that their people have to leave to survive.

I'm glad that you can see both sides of the issue. It's a very hard thing to watch ppl you care about having to be afraid they will be sent back to a country where they can't work to buy food.

And if any ppl around you start talking badly about Mexican immigrants, you can say, " You better be glad you were born in the USA. Because if you were born in Mexico, you'd probably just stay there and starve." So there!

You can pick your nose and you can pick your butt Rebecca but what you can't do is pick your parents.

The fact the a childs parents brought them here illegally doesn't make them legal. What it does do is make me feel sorry for them. We are all responsible for ourselves including or actions and the descisions we make. However, when we are the head of the household we are also responsible for our dependants. And breaking the law for the betterment of our dependents is still breaking the law. The has been fought all the way to the supreme court.

The parents and the children have to be deported because the law of the land has been broken. Many have tried to change the law but arguements that there is only so much we as a country, we as a people can do have won and will continue to win.

Everyone on the Titanic could not be saved, there just werent enough life boats. And those illegal imigrants from Mexico are like the passengers on the Titanic, we Americans can no longer save everyone. That is why there are quotas on imigration. (We only have so many life boats)

The issue of illegal immigration is not an anti-immigrant issue.

It has always been the responsibility of the Federal Government to secure the borders and ports of this country, to stop as many attempted illegal entries into this country, and to expedite the removal of any persons, whom they were unable to catch in the act, once they have been caught.

If the government had always been doing that part of its job, the American companies would have been able to get them to increase the number of legal immigrants with legal right to compete for reasonable wages.

This would have kept the low end wages from lagging so far behind the inflation rate of the rest of the country.

Immigrants who don't drive wages down and don't make it impossible for Americans to legally run service businesses without hiring illegal workers would not have nearly as many detractors as the ones living in this country, under these circumstances.

The jerks who blame this unacceptable situation on the illegal instead of their own government, and both parties are equally to blame for this, are the most likely to get a news camera and a mic shoved in front of their face to spew their hateful vomit at us. Maybe that's why your are confused.

Allright, lets solve this Issue!!!
Practically, we cant round up 12 million people and deport them all!!! Then everyone will say that the us has concentration camps and that we're stalinists or nazis for rounding up and deporting that amount of people!!!

We should grant amnesty for these people and come with a viable solution!!!!!!!!

Lets start with Driver's Liscenses. Give them Liscenses if they can prove they can pass: written and oral, and driving tests. Now, this requires registering a permanent addres with the DMV of their state. Also, They MUST prove that they have insurance to drive, just like all us regular legal driver's.

Second, they must file income tax returns and pay regular taxes like the rest of us legals.

In exchange for these responsibilites, the deportation process should be postponed, meaning that any illegal who wants to become a naturalized american should be allowed to do so. Without fear of deportation during the process.

Third, pending a background check, if clear, the person should pay 1/10 of the fine that congress compromised on during the last session, and not have to leave the country. The fine for should be $400.00 payable to either the D.O.J. or the I.R.S., As a monthly installment of $10. per month for 40 months.

This amounts to $2 and change per week, so it is affordable. Everyone spends more money on sodas per week and dont even blink accordingly.

This would be the start of my immigration reform. Any one who's really serious about this, and want to work on a project to alter the current immgration rules, please contact me @ rss_beatty@yahoo.com.

Please no spammers, haterz, threaterz. If youre illegal, "Please Go Legal" It make us all a whole lot happier.

How would you treat a child's parent who committed felonies to support their families? If you caught the parents would you slap them on the wrist because to punish them would be to punish the children. Those felons hurt someone to get the cash for their family. I don't mean hurt in a physical sense but taking someones money or opportunity that they worked hard for is causing damage. Your friends, though they may be techically innocent, are taking up funds meant for your education. Their parents are soaking up tax dollars for health care and other welfare programs. Whether you want to believe it or not illegal immigrants are a drain on this country's economy. The only to do the right thing is to go back and come in legally, pay their taxes, work hard, stay out of trouble, and swear alligience to their new country. The Roman Empire fell not by invading armies but from within by migrating huns and vandals into Rome. By the way, Mexico is not the whole of illegal immigration but it is the most visible component. Don't forget Honduras, Guatemala, and many other countries.

I have adopted a son who has a open relationship with his birth father who is an illegal immigrant. this father has been in his life for 4 years now and has a sick mom in Mexico so he is going back to see her, but doesn't know if he can come back into the states, and that is hard for us to see. I can see both sides, because illegals are taking American jobs but It is a free country and if they want to live and work here, I think they really should do it the legal way. Every one else has had to do it that way.

There are certain steps to becoming legal... most never even try. Whose fault is that. And I'm sure you do know some nice, hardworking people. We all do. But many of those who are here illegally committed crimes in their own countries and now commit crimes here. These are the people who do not qualify for American citizenship and we most certainly do not want them here.

When your friends are of legal age, they have the opportunity to apply for citizenship, go to college , and get a good job. If they choose not to, they have no one to blame but themselves.

if they are born on american soil they are legal. Ever hear of the term illegal? It means not legal as in something you can't do. Who cares how they are living or what jobs they are working, they are still working here and not paying taxes. They might be great people and yes, I feel bad for them but the United States needs to have jobs for American Citizens not illegal immigrants who aren't even paying taxes.

I have absolutely no problem with immigration from Mexico, so long as it's done legally.

I don't care how illegal immigrants got here and how old they were. They're not American citizens and need to be deported.

If they were truly raised here and are essentially "Americans" then they would understand the civil responsibility to apply for citizenship. They are no longer ignorant of the law as adults.

my stance is pretty simple, illegal immigration is illegal, and legal immigration is legal. the first is wrong and the 2nd is ok. there are some people who are in bad circumstance and make the decision to become illegal. there are other people who are in bad circumstances and make another decision. we are all decision-makers of our own lives and should accept the consequences of our decisions. if you are illegal, you simply do not have the same rights as a legal immigrant.
