Peak Oil

The point at which it gets increasingly difficult & expensive to find and produce oil while the supply is PROVEN to be diminishing AND the demand is increasing.

It's happening right NOW - the annual production figures for all those Middle Eastern oil fields has been falling steadily for the last 20 years. Getting it is resulting in wars & other international conflicts (a price most people don't think of). Discovery of new oil fields has been steadily declining for 50 years.

In about 20 years we'll be fighting wars for water.
