Im 16 and was diagnosed with M.E when i was 11.
I've been told recentley that i also have fibromyalgia.
The thing is i went to see a fibromyalgia specialist last week whos said i could just have fibromyalgia, but my doctor at the hospital says i have both as they intertwine with each other.
Im really confused about it all now so any advice would mean alot
x

Chances are you succumbed to sleeping problems when you had M.E. and now the M.E. has gone you have Fibromyalgia due to an incorrect sleeping pattern.

Fibromyalgia according to the most recent research is a neuromuscular syndrome. It involves pain in all four quadrants of the body in the muscles & joints without swelling or inflammation. The pain moves from area to area rather than being confined to one area & can be extremely bad. The bones are not involved. It is diagnosed by the presence of at least 11 out of 18 pressure pts on the body. There are many theories concerning the causes of fibro but as yet none has been definitely proven. There is a correlation between fibromyalgia & ME. Many ppl with ME go on to develop fibro & the two share many of the same symptoms such as pain, fatigue, cognitive problems, & sleep disorders. The are many good sites on the internet that will give you more information including The Fibromyalgia Network, one of my favorite. There are also fibromyalgia support groups online that can give you lots of information on how ppl just like you have coped. I have tried many groups & would be glad to tell you about some of them if you would like to email me.
