Same here. The more I'm proven wrong, the more I learn. And I want to learn.

Yet a lot of theists seem very reluctant to even open their eyes/ears to the slightest contradiction of their beliefs...

I believe we have have a personal obligation to ourselves to seek truth. Most seem to believe that their obligation is to conform. I think this is more of an emotional attachment than anything. I understand that for somebody who has never been critical of their own believes, it can be a difficult thing to do. On the other hand, most believers seem to want to give up, conform and limit reality. Believing something without proof seems to be considered noble. They attach themselves to emotional feelings and use that as their proof.

I was having a debate with a Christian (Baptist) and we were discussing some of the flaws of the bible. Of course he said the bible was absolute truth and was inerrant. He then proceeded to tell me that "there isn't anything I can show him that would change his mind." Why is this attitude applauded in the Christian community? It would seem that at this point, the believer is simply saying, "I will not take any part of reality into consideration in order to seek out what is real and what may be false."

I agree. I am a Christian and I think if something makes you question your views you should research it until you find what truth there really is. However in the question simple faith...how can you question and find tangible evidence for something that is simply based on an intangible concept. To be able to believe in the unknown or unseen cannot be tested. I believe there are probably many more planets and galaxies than I will ever be shown in my lifetime, but I cannot prove it. Nor can I take your hand and physically introduce you to the God I believe in and live for.

When will you all understand that not all of us Christians are brainwashed, indoctrinated, or stupid? Some of us have weighed the "evidence" for both sides and made the decision, just as you have, that it is faith for us. You, on the other hand, have decided that it is no faith for you. As I have said over and over, if we are right, then we spend eternity with God. If you are right we will just be dead. If we are right you will spend eternity in a dark place away from God because you exercised your God given right of free will to choose whether to believe or not to believe. God will never ever force you to believe in Him no matter what some Christians do to try to force their beliefs on you. Those of us who have a better understanding of God know that we are only here to inform, not to push or shame or any other un-God like tactics. Just as you have the right to inform us that there is no God, we have the same right to inform you that there is. This argument will last until the last day and then it will be solved for all time. I personally am glad that I have been able to embrace the idea of an afterlife, having seen much evidence to enforce that notion, so that I will be able to enjoy eternity in a pleasant environment after living in hell on earth for so many years. Do you all even open your minds the tiniest bit to allow God to speak to your hearts? Probably not and definitely not because of anything God has done to you. For the millionth time, it has been people who have misrepresented God and yet you hold Him accountable for that. I'm so sorry that you have such hardness in your hearts toward someone who only wants to love you. Makes me wonder how you deal with people who want to love you.

Very true, that's why even though I've examined a number of apologetic writings and presentations of evidences I still continue to try to keep a open mind. The point is to considered information objectively and to not seek reinforcement of any position but what the information actually means.

people dont question rather or not jesus was real, or if he went through all that he did because it is a fact. what they question is, is he was the savior, and all i can say to you is, even if there isnt a god, how can you not beleive in what this man beleived in? he went through so much and if there was a shadow of doubt in his mind, i highly doubt he would have gone through all he did. He was so commited and was so absolutly sure that what he was doing was for you, how can you not believe in him?if someone went to shoot you and a man stood in the way and took the bullet for you, would you look at that same man and deny that he did it for you? just think about it, and in the mean time i will pray for you.

I think you are right to keep an open mind...that's the basis of science. Any new discovery, in physics or otherwise, should be welcomed. If this weren't true, we'd still be living in a flat-earth society governed by religious dogma. Stay liberated without any blinders!!!

The problem with your question is the phrase "if something was found that put my views into question".

Sorry.....but the plain, real, objective TRUTH of the universe is what it is. You can't put THAT into question.

If someone came along and told me that they could PROVE to me that 2 + 2 equaled 5 and showed me a whole lot of equations and 'scientific' looking theorems that appeared to prove it, I'd still smile politely and walk away.
