My dog just gave birth to ONE puppy on September the 27th. He's only 2 weeks old and i was wondering when I should go bring him to the vet. Do i need to get him a birth certificate? And if so, when. Also when should he go get his shots?

Your supposed to bring your puppy for shots at 7 weeks old. You can get your puppies papers from the owner of the parents if your dog is pure breed. You will probably have to pay extra for the papers and you only really need them if you are planning on breeding your dog.

No vaccinations before 8 weeks old!!! Vaccinating earlier interfers with natural immunity, suppresses the immune system, can leave the puppy more suseptible to the very illness the vaccine is suppose to protect against and can cause problems with future vaccinations.
Vaccinations are given at 8, 12 & 16 weeks of age and rabies is given at 20 weeks or older.
Do NOT give coronavirus..it is NOT recommended for ANY puppy/dog. Also lepto, parainfluenza and kennel cough (bordatella isn't recommended unless your dog is at high risk of exposure to these illnesses.
The above is current protocol from the AAHA/AVMA and ALL 27 vet schools.

Why don't you contact your Vet? They can answer all your questions & set you up with an appointment when it is time for the shots.

Dogs don't have birth cerificates. They are registered with a registry if both parents are registered. If they are a quality pure breed they also have Pedigree papers.

Since you bred your pet you probably only have a pet quality pup & should be spayed/neutered between 4 & 6 months of age. The mother needs to be spayed as soon as all her swelling goes down.
