Im not against them as a dog, I am against the profit that breeders make in giving these mutts, silly names, and treating them as if they are a full fledged new breed of dog.
If a breeder really was intrested in creating, lets saw as example, a Puggle and actually make it a new breed. Did all they could to ensure the health, vitality, personality, conformation, and uniformity of the breed. They called it a Puggle and priced the dog for what it was actually worth and had a solid, full-proof, all encompassing contract for the new owners. I would consider them a decent breeder. I wouldnt critsize them.
However there are few of these people out there. More and more profit, BYB's are cashing in on cutisey names and the fact that people spread the word that mutts are better and healthier than purebreds. Which is baloney. The health and temperment lie in the parents, the care and the knowledge of the breeder.
I I really niether hate or like. I dont suggest or reccomend but I dont deny a person wanting a designer dog. I just try to educate them what they are getting into.

Stray dog no collar? As a former shelter manager, I would suggest. Check dog for injuries, friendliness, health first. Determine if the dog needs medical attention right away. Then call all area shelters, Police, and animals control and give a complete description of the dog. Take in to local vet or shelter and have them run a microchip scanner over the dog. After that... if you cant keep the dog for the 7 day holding period, take dog to shelter or pound, If you can.
Clean dog up, keep dog from other pets at least a week to not transfer disease or parasites to other animals. Canvas the area with neighbors, put out some flyers, call places. After 7 days no answer? Dog is yours.

I am not for designer dogs. I am also not for inbreeding. ( for example most labor dogs) So if the breeds family tree doesn't fork, then we have too bring in another breed. But there too many purebred to pick from. There is no need to make new breeds. Look at the Schnoodle. Why ?The Miniature Schnauzer already has a lot of poodle in the breed. Then you have the Labor-doodle. Again why? A poodle is a much better dog. Just use a Standard for see eye dog and what ever. The only advantage a labor dog has over a poodle is cold water retrieval.
I have taken many strays to the shelter. Even after the bite me.

I personally have no problems with the dogs, it is the people who breed them - on purpose - that I have a problem with.

I do not yell at the people, I do not answer those questions or get involved in that stuff, I feel that they do have rights to breed their dogs, and I have the same right not to agree with their choice and since you asked, I have the right to an opinon, also.

I think they are generally low life wanna be breeders who unlike professional breeders, (we have day jobs!) have no other way in life to make a few shekels selling dogs, and it is a backyard puppy mill in my opinion.
Professional handlers/breeders, hobbyists have a place breeding BETTER purebreds. I remember the days when a OOPS breeding resulted in desperate people in front of grocery stores trying to send a puppy home, now I see the media exploiting these little mutts in the hands of socialites making it the "in" thing to carry around. It is pathetic, and truly will lead to the demise of respect for ethical dog breeders because these people pose as caring individuals, such BS.

As far as strays go, I will pick them up check for tags then off to the vets to see if they are chipped. If chipped, we find the owner, if not I call the animal control.

it is not our place to judge everyone has a reason for what kind of dog they want i'm not for it or against. I am against people trying to force what they want down other peoples throats .It is a new time are many new designers some people like some people don't like cars flowers fruit dogs people and no one has the right to say its wrong or right yes there are alot of dogs that get put down every day cats to for that fact and think about how many people in this world are starving? Sitting here and yelling at people what you think they should or should not do is not helping anyone
As to the strays we take them in any time we find one we place an add in the paper post found ads and if no one comes to get the dog we find ahome or we have kept 3 and 2 cats so far

I don't like it when people purposely breed designer dogs just to make a few dollars when thousands of dogs exactly like them are dying in the shelters. Overall though, I don't mind the dogs.

About stray dogs, I would probably walk up to the dog to see if it'll bite, and if its friendly and doesn't seem ill, I'd take it somewhere to be checked for a microchip. If there isn't one, I don't know? Probably by that point I'd end up bonding too much with the dog...

I'm against the intentional irresponsible breeding of purebreds or mixes. I think spaying and neutering is a good option for the average dog owner. Most designer dog breeders don't know what they're doing.

Strays:
I think I'd try to coax it home and post "found dog" posters and classifieds, then take it to the shelter if that didn't pan out. Once a cute little dog followed me home and I wanted to keep her, but we took her to the pound. I hope she found herself a forever home... that was SO many years ago though...

I am against designer breeds. Breeders who make mutts are bad breeders, all they care about is money. They dont get genetic health tests or do any research. They call them designer breeds and sell them for outragous prices. A designer breed is nothing more then a mutt you cant predict anything about mutts . These so called breeders promise they dont shed ,that they are hypoallergenic ,will soon be registered with AKC and the list goes on. And unknowledgeable people fall for it. I dont dislike the dogs its the breeders. If you want a mutt go to your shelter, there have been mutts there for years. As for stray animals i would take them home, put up signs, notify the shelter and try to find his owner. If I dont find the owner within a month then i would eiher keep him or find him a good home.

I'm very much against the concept of "designer dogs". IMHO of course, but the breeding and selling of designer dogs is our worse form of puppy mill at this time.

Stray dogs can be a touchy subject because some breeds are very good at finding their own way home if left alone. Of course there are others that need help finding their own butt. Unfortunately most people don't know the difference.

honestly i hate people who say their dog is a designer dog. i have nothing against the dogs itself i hate the people who think their dog is special because it is a mutt with a cute name.
as for the stray dog i would probably take it home with me and put up posters and try to find an owner. if i didnt find an owner i would either keep it or take it to the shelter.

I think they are adorable but i personally would not waste my money by buying from a socalled "breeder" of designer dogs.

I'd rather get the same dog at an animal shelter for the price that it's really worth. Plus they come altered and up to date on shots.

I just find it unethical to add to the overpopulation of dogs on purpose for money when there are the same desinger breeds getting put down there owners grew tired of them. Or their little cockapoo did shed.

I usually take a stray animal in. I just recently rescued a poodle off the streets. His fur was in terrible condition, and he was very underweight.
