you need to know that lice don't stay in your hair all day. They leave eggs in your hair and live in things such as stuffed animals or fabrics like blankets in your room. Then at night they come out and eat the skin off your scalp. This as you probably know makes your head itch.

1. You need to by a special shampoo to kill the lice.
2. You need to take all your belongings that are soft or made from fabrics in your room, stick them in garbage bags, seel them then leave them out side for a month so the lice living in them will die or starvation and or suffocation.
3. Spray your belongings out side your room such as couches with a lice spray to prevent and kill any lice that may have gotten here that may not be in your room
4. Use the shampoo and after following the instructions you will use a SPECIAL knit comb to take out the EGGS that were left in your hair. Remember even if you kill the lice you need a special comb to remove the eggs as shampoo wont remove them alone
5. WASH ALL YOUR CLOTHES

You can get these this in a heath section of stores.

You shouldn't just use random house materials or food products to remove lice as they may not work and don't remove eggs. You should use things made for the soul purpose of kill lice are removing knits (eggs).

You need to have someone use a nit comb and carefully remove ALL the nits and lice. Then use a treatment shampoo, when my daughter had it the health dept told her to drench her hair in olive oil and put a shower cap on then a stocking cap and sleep with it over night, once a week for three weeks. All the while checking daily and removing any lice and eggs. You also have to clean your house to remove any eggs, quarantine all stuffed animals that can't be washed in sealed bags for 2 weeks. Vacume really well and wash all the bedding. Lice eggs that hatch will need a human blood meal shortly after they hatch, they will die in a day or so without it. Lice can not live on a pet. They need human blood to survive. We completely got rid of the problem and were given an all clear from the health dept in 3 days! It was a lot of work, but we tackled it. Good luck.

Head and shoulders is for dandruff. It's not going to get rid of your lice. You need to sanitize all of your hair accessories, brushes, combs, etc. in diluted bleach. You also need to wash all of the fabrics that your hair touched such as your sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, you may also want to check out your local drug store while you're picking up shampoo specifically used for killing headlice you should look for a disinfectant spray you can use on your furniture. If you dont have the money for the lice shampoo, I heard mayonaise works. You have to GLOB it on every strand of your hair and leave it on there for a good hour or so. I heard this suffocates the lice and they die. However, I doubt it works that well, you are better off just buying the shampoo.

You don't have to resort to overwhelmingly drastic methods such as shaving your head, this is totally over the top and completely unnecessary.

The safest home treatment for head lice is one that is contains completely natural ingredients. Steer clear from over the counter pesticide based preparations as they may not only be ineffective, but possibly unsafe. Even if they don’t contain any of chemicals that have been proven to be unsafe, are we really willing to take the risk of using these pesticide based preparations on the highly permeable scalps of our precious children? Who knows what facts may surface in the future about the chemicals in use today?

Luckily there are quite a few totally natural remedies available that readily kill head lice.

Suffocation is an effective method where oil based products (i.e.: mayonnaise) are used to block the breathing holes and kill the live lice. The real trick though is to find natural products that will kill both the live lice and their eggs in one fast effective treatment.

Remedies containing Neem Oil are known to be highly effective as Neem interrupts the growth and reproduction of the head louse. Neem’s insecticidal properties are widely recognized now and the oil is commonly available at your local health food store.

Feel free to check out the articles at the following site for more advice.

Good luck.

Been there, done that.

okay, there is actually alot of things you should do. Buy special lice shampoo that yoiu can get at any walmart, special lice comb to remove any eggs, alot of laundry detergant, a hair buzzer, and special body soap.

Use these EVERY DAY or it will not work. the shampoo is crucial. It will kill any lice that is alive. the comb removes any eggs. With laundry, WASH EVERY THING. go to a laundry mat if you half to. The special body soap is to prevent migration to places where you don't want people to see you scratch. A hair buzzer is for shaving off your hair if you are a guy(girls can use it too) It doesn't have to be bald or any thing. just short. LICE HATE HAIRSPRAY. So you can style your hair, just with excessive amount of hair spray.

ok,
well the easiest thing would to smother your hair in olive oil, and cover it with something like a plastic bag and a towel.
you can also do that with mayonnaise or vasoline.

or you could go to the store and get a lice remover kit, [usually rid or nix].
but for all of these, you will need someone to sit there and comb you nits and lice out for a LONG time. they all have to be removed or you'll have it forever.
and for headbands and stuffed animals, pillowcases, sheets, etc., get a giant trash bag, and suffocate them in their for a few days/ then be sure to wash it all including your clothes.

hope it helps!

Source lists several remedies to suffocate the lice. Vaseline, Mayo, Crisco, Extra virgin olive oil, and then wrap head in saran wrap or shower cap, overnight. Shampoo with Dawn dishwashing detergent. Rinse with beer or vinegar.

ok, first you the lice shampoo. wash EVERYTHING!!! plastic stuff soak in bleach. spray down your house, if it doesnt go away, try vasoline, it sucks *** but it works, and leave it on for 24 hours. it will get rid of them, when your done use 409 to get the vasoline out. or you can die your hair after the lice shampoo instead of the vasoline. the spray and shampoo is called RID and comes with a comb to go through your hair, get a a close friend, my mom did it for me, and have them go through every inch of your hair with it! good luck!

If it's real bad you may need to cut your hair if it's real long. They have shampoos especially for lice, like Rid but you can also use Dog shampoo, like for fleas & that will kill them. My mom used to have an electric comb that she would run through our hair & it would zap the little jokers. Make sure if you are underage to tell your mom about any advice you get before you go & try it yourself. but in my experience these things have worked for me & my friends.
