U.K., the army

Air Force, but that is just me. If you want to go into ground combat join the Marines or the Army.

Air Force has so many benefits, one month paid vacation, travel to any country in the world (as a request), the pay is good, some bases have golf course, and more. If you want to fly, join. For an engineering job, pick the Air Force.

Don't ask others, go to the one that is heaviest in your own heart. If you asked me personally I'm going to tell you to join the Marines cause that's the branch I was in but all branches of the military is just as good as the other. We all join to better this country and we all work together to that end. If you want a real active military life, join the Army. If you prefer the LITTLE more laid back military life then join the Air Force. Join which one you feel the most about after all, it's your life and if you're anything like me, no one in their right mind tells me how to run my life.

I'm retired Air Force. I joined the AF because I wanted to serve my country but I was a little guy, more brains than brawn, and I wanted a technical job, which I got. I started out in motion picture production, went to Thailand, did BDA imagery (Battle Damage Assessment) film from the AC-130 Spectre birds and gun camera film from RF-4s. Went overseas twice (among other stateside assignments) and finished my career working with film from the SR-71/U-2 recon aircraft until I worked a special assignment the last few years. All great duty.

While it's true I might have made rank faster in another branch, it's also true that you can lose rank faster in the other branches, so all in all, it was the best choice for me. The military is a great life and if I could do it all again, I would, even from day One.

It depends what job you're after.

Back when I applied for the ADF, I chose my preferences based on the job, not the service. Air Force Ground Defence interested me the most and was my top preference, but I got my third choice, Army Artillery instead.

Because outside the specific jobs each branch has, you still receive the same benefits, are subject to the same laws and discipline and usually have an equally tough time during training. Though I have heard the US Army has made their basic training softer as of late, but don't quote me on that.

This is something you need to decide on your own, because the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I am in the army, and I would say that the airforce treats people better but i have been told that they want to see action and think the army is better because of the bonuses. You should go talk to the recruiters and see what they tell you, they are not as evil as they sound.

Depends on the direction you are trying to go.

Once you have boots on the ground, no matter what got you there, you have to do your best to try and stabilize the situation.

Special Operations troops have been doing this since the 60's, you do it by getting cooperation from the people in the country you are in.

20 years military service here.

Don't think branch, think job, training and goals. Also consider what you will end up with if you wash out of training.
