Sure theft, as others have mentioned is nice to have, but the most important reason to get ATV insurance is the liability coverage.
Case in point- This summer one of my current customers was up in the mountains riding alone in a secluded area. Out of nowhere a dirt bike collided with him. The dirt bike rider had severe injuries and needed to be air lifted to the nearest hospital. Luckily, he recovered but he had over $65,000 in medical bills and tried to sue my customer. All he had to do was call me and his insurance took care of everything, saving him not only $65,000 but it also fixed his ATV and he didn't have to pay for a lawyer or any court fees. I think his insurance is around $125 a year.

Theft - is a top reason.
Another is that the ATV is financed and the company wants insurance to cover in case of a loss before it is paid for.

Theft and fire. They also have a good chance of wrecking them while riding.
