price of admission, if they receive an invitation in the mail for this event, does this mean to them that they dont have to pay?

Yes, if you're inviting someone to something, you should pay, but some people don't understand etiquette, so it's best to ask.

P.S.- Are you talking about inviting someone to see you perform? If that's the case, you should list the price of admission on the invitation, otherwise, people will assume it's free.

Of course, otherwise why are they receiving this invitation. If they have to pay, it would be like you asking them if they want to go and not an invitation.

Typically, who ever does the inviting is the one who pays. If you're unsure it's best to ask for clarification. In the long run it saves both parties from embarrassment at the door.

No. It just means you are invited to buy a ticket. It's an exclusive guest list and you are one of the "lucky" ones.

It should mean you don't have to pay... but be warned not everyone realises that.
