I am a mother, who works full time as a C.N.A. I love my job, but as you can imagine, some days are just too much. I live directly accross the street from my work, so after one shift I am immediately swooped into more care giving after that shift ends. I do all the cooking, cleaning, playing with the kids. Daddy works opposite shifts than me to keep the cost of daycare to a minimum. On rare occasions, we both have a day off but we are so tired we can hardly twitch. Sometimes I take advange of these such nights and steal away for a much needed bubble bath. I take my mp3 player in with me cuz I almost always have kids knocking on my door the whole time. needless to say the relax in that scenerio just can't be sometimes. What are some other ideas I can try to accomplish some time for myself.

I'm not saying I don't want anything to do with my kids, I love them dearly, I love the finger prints, the lack of privacy, the owies and the late nights, when my kids are involved. At the same time though, I know I need to take some time for myself. My husband does, with ease. I have always thought of others first and put myself dead last, and find it hard to pay any attention to "me".

You and your husband need a "date" night. Really. FIND TIME FOR THIS. Make time for it. It'll help you both if you don't already do this. Now on to your question. I relax by simply sitting outside, especially near water (we live near the ocean). I find this very relaxing. Wait until the kiddies have gone to bed before you take your bath (heaven it really is). Read a book...take a walk OR work out in a gym after work before going home if you have time. With children I find it VERY rare to relax at all. Find time for it so the "burnout" effect doesn't come creeping along.

Make time for yourself and your husband. No excuses. I see a lot that take a vacation day in conjunction with a holiday to give them more time. Get a babysitter. and get away for a few days. What ever it is you and your husband enjoy doing. That is a very important thing to do for you and your husband. You worked for it you deserve it. Just do it!

Once or twice a year, I call in sick to work while my daughter is in school so I can have an entire day to myself! It's not much, but as you know, there never will be tons of relaxation for working parents! lol.. Not sure if that will work for you, but I love it.
