sounds like she has a dry skin problem. my boxer goes thru periods of that too. the vet can give you a lotion to put on her to relieve her itching. another thing to be careful about too, washing your dog to much robs her skin of oils. that might be a reason for the dry skin.

Ouch! Sounds like she could well have a flea allergy, very uncomfortable for her.

Flea shampoos aren't particularly great because they don't prevent, they only wash fleas off. Flea collars are entirely worthless I'm afraid - fleas have to actually come into contact with the collar, so they just stay away from the neck area. Since flea collars cause reactions fairly frequently, I would get the collar off your dog.

You need to visit a vets - not necessarily with the dog, you can pick up proper flea treatment without taking the dog. You might want to consider taking her however because she would probably benefit from a steroid shot to calm down the inflammation on her poor skin.

You need to get some Frontline, or Advantage or Revolution from a vet, and make sure it gets on your dog's skin rather than his fur. It's also very important that you get some spray for your house, because this is where most of the fleas are living. Since your dog appears to be rather sensitive to fleas, you need to attack the problem from all angles to make sure you completely eliminate all fleas - Frontline Plus is probably the best flea treatment, and spraying your house at least once is important. You might also want to consider Program tablets, as an extra preventative.

They have meds at any department store for hotspots. If you put this on her, she will not want to bite or lick bc of the taste of it. It also helps to heal the patches. Bathe her with flea shampoo once or twice a month. (More is not good for her skin) Use frontline plus...it is the best flea protection out there. She could be allergic to the medication in the flea collar. Try taking it off of her for a while after you bathe her and wait 24 hours, then apply the frontline. If this does not help, then it is likely either an allergic reaction to something she is coming into contact with or a skin rash of some sort and should be examined by a vet.

The best advice I have is to take her to the vet. The compulsive scratching and chewing could be a flea problem, a dermatological issue or even a mental symptom of being bored or something.

If it's fleas you may need to get her on Advantix, which my dogs need and is prescribed by a vet. I also try to bathe them with a good shampoo (I DO NOT recommend Hartz products!) once a week or less if possible. I washed them every Sunday during the summer but now that it's cooling down it maybe be more like every three weeks depending on how they smell or how dirty they get.

Don't forget to brush her often to remove old hair and help her feel connected and loved as well.

But, best bet is to take her to the vet!

Make an appointment with your vet for a skin scraping to rule out anything medical. If it is fleas then I recommend a pill called CapStar which will kill any flea or tick on the dog within an hour or so. Then a monthly topical treatment. I use Frontline Plus and it has worked well for me. You can get both of these from your vet and they are relatively inexpensive.

First thing take her to the vet. Chewing and scratching not only irritates the skin, but could get it infected. If it is fleas, then they may have to give her a flea dip which is a bath with a special medicated shampoo basically. Otherwise just stop her when she scratches it.

Bathe her in dish soap liquid I know it sounds funny but it helps with the fleas and ticks. Also take her to the vet she could get an infection from all that itching chewing and biting my dog got an infection on her stomach from all that.

The Vet.
It may be lacking certain vitamins and may have hot spots.
