...how come Halloween is so widely celebrated there? You Americans spend billions of dollars each year celebrating what is effectively a satanic festival, that rejoices in the dark forces. How does that fit with all your pious born-again Christianity?

Halloween is nothing! You should see how crazy they get when Santa comes to town! It's a sight to see! The Easter Bunny is another biggie. At least they go to church to see the Easter Bunny -- they don't go anywhere near a church on Christmas.

Halloween is NOT a satanic or darkness celebration. It's history is even older than the bible. It began as a harvest time celebration. It was adopted in a religious way in several parts of the world. For example it was once believed that on that day displaced souls would search for a body to inhabit. So people would dress in a "scary" way to frighten the souls away.

The word Hallow...ever heard the term hallowed halls?

American Heritage dictionary:
hallow
verb
1. To make or set apart as holy.
2. To respect or honor greatly; revere.

Halloween is just a fun day . It is not a holiday . I never heard of anyone praying to , or worshipping evil spirits .
Don't you people believe in having fun ,once in a while ? You should try it , it's great for the well-being and personality of the individual .
Otherwise let us have our pleasures . We wish you well in your gloom .

Christians are not any more good that other people, we are forgiven. There is a difference.

I do not have problem with anyone celebrating Halloween. I do not like scary costumes though.

Why do you assume that America is a neat, nice and tidy, predomimently Christian nation? It is one of its highest ideals, but hardly the reality. Human nature is what it is.
