Whoever prophesied that Jesus would return in 2000 was a false prophet. Please read Deuteronomy 18:22. Don't give up on Jesus!

Where did you hear that? Are you talking about the Y2K stuff? Jesus never said He was coming back in the year 2000, that was just some person's false prophecy, (which Jesus also predicted there would be in the last days.) The book of 2 Peter is a good place to start reading what God's Word has to say on this subject. Church won't save you, and sadly, many churches are confusing and deceiving people because they are what the Bible calls apostate (fallen away) from the truth of the Bible.
If you find a true Bible-teaching church and pray for wisdom from the Holy Spirit, it will help you discern these things.
You will see that we are not meant to know the day and the hour, but we are to realize that time is short (whether it is our uncertain life span or the fate of the whole world) and that one way or the other we we face Him in eternity and have to give an account for our life. The only thing that matters is what you personally do with Jesus--do you accept Him as the Son of God and your Savior, or do you reject Him?

The Bible doesn't teach when Jesus is coming, so why would you think that he is coming in the year 2000.
*** es07 p. 22 February ***
Keep on the watch . . . because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.—Matt. 24:42.
A thief does not send a letter announcing when he is coming. On the contrary, he comes stealthily and unexpectedly. On more than one occasion, Jesus used the ways of a thief as an illustration. (Matt. 24:43; Luke 10:30; John 10:10) For instance, Jesus likened his future coming as Executioner of judgment to the arrival of a thief—unexpected. The illustration was fitting, for the precise date of Jesus’ coming would not be known. Earlier, in the same prophecy, Jesus said: “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matt. 24:36) Jesus, therefore, urged his listeners: “Prove yourselves ready.” (Matt. 24:44) Those heeding Jesus’ warning would be ready, conducting themselves properly, whenever he would come as Jehovah’s Executional Agent

The Bible by no skill suggested that Jesus become coming back in 2000. extremely on the opposite, Jesus suggested no individual will comprehend at the same time as he's coming back. look at the first link below for what the Bible says about the activities of the top situations--we are no longer extremely there yet.

Simple. Unless you were involved in a "cult" church, not the mainstream church, there was ABSOLUTELY no prophecies in the bible talking about, or relating to "2000 years" of passing time.
Matt 24:36-37: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
This is a idiom - for the exact time. No one knows the day or the hour when he comes (referring to the rapture/resurrection).
Mark 13:32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Matt 25:13: “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
Jesus makes it clear a number of times Matt 24:42 “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” So we can be sure that NO man can discover through the word or revelation this day (also Luke 12:38-39), it is unknown to man.
Hence, I don't know why anyone actually bothers prophesying about his coming when WE DON'T KNOW. Unless, like I said, you were involved in a cult.

It's not known to any creature when prophet Jesus would return. Whoever predicated or claimed to 'predict' that prophet Jesus would come in the year 2000 isn't reliable and isn't true. On such an issue no human can be reliable if they claim to know when prophet Jesus would return.

He never said that He would come back in 2000. In fact the Bible teaches that no one knows exactly when He will come back. The scriptures talk about signs that will preceed the 2nd coming and you can see some of those things in the world today.

Because Jesus never said this, and most Christians never believed this. In fact, it was never prophecied, except maybe by people who called themselves 'prophets'.

Because your church is ignorant of the scriptures, find a better one.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Matt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
