Could that be the reason why he gave us the 10 Commandments? Because He wanted us to be just like him.

He is Pure
He is Love
He is Peace
He is Kind
He is Giving
He is Forgiving

and alot more good things

So anything that doesnt represent him, he is against it.

Remember God's Commandments are not to harm anyone but to help everyone

The Wickedness and Judgment of Men

Genesis 6:5-8

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, " I will distroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have mad them. " But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

God gave humans another chance. So in some sense, GOd had a little Faith in humans, I think he believe that we could make things right for us.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image (ṣelem), after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

ṣelem - A masculine noun meaning an image, a likeness, a statue, a model, a drawing, a shadow. The word means image or likeness; its most celebrated theological and anthropological use was to depict human beings as made in God's own image (Gen_1:26-27; Gen_5:3). People continue to be in His image even after the fall, although the image is marred (Gen_9:6), and still serves as the basis of the prohibition not to kill human beings.

Genesis 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

God was perfectly happy the way things were before all was formed. He is a creative God though and designed creation and it was good. He was worthy of worship and went beyond that to have a relationship with man. When the Angels rebelled and led man to rebel that relationship was destroyed in that context. Do not think that God did not know this was going to happen, that is why from the start provision through the Son were made, yes even in the Old Testament. Man is born inherently evil from then on, passed from one generation to the next. It is through God's grace that we are saved from being cast down with demons.
The Ten Commandments are a tool that God used to help man to understand His law and to also help us to realize that we cannot achieve that perfection without a savior. People of Moses day did not understand everything that God had given them and ended up corrupting that with misc. laws. Even today in the USA where 97% say that they are a Christian, more than half probalby cannot name the even five of the Ten Commndments let alone uphold them.
When describing God's nature you also must remember that God is a God of wrath and despises sin. To say that God is love and pure and to forget his anger to sin is to create a god that is false thereby making an idol. We are to be as close to the model that Christ was, but not like a god ourself or even to achieve a god like status.
I could go on about this for a long time as there is so much more, but hopefully that answered your question
