The general rules of evolution and random factors make cancer, miscarriages, and various congenital diseases a simple fact of nature. What do these same things say about a creator being? Some of the idea's given in here about why we have cells growing out of control (cancer), organs developing in less than sufficient ways (congenital heart disease), and embryo's developing in ways that do not support life (miscarriage's) just do not make a bit of sense to me. I simply cannot believe that I have heart disease because some cave man (Adam) messed up. I also cannot accept that my sister lost most of her colon to cancer because an "all loving" creator being caused, or allowed, it to happen. Feel free to explain whatever you believe.

Im not sure if it is nature in progress or the progress of mankind.
Since there is no god we leave that out of the whole equation, kinda rushed this morning and have no time to speak of htat nonsense.
Our lifespans are longer than they were say 150 years ago. We have found cures for many ills. But, is it possible that the poisons and preservatives that we use could be responsible for some of todays diseases?
Is it possible that people who died of "consumption" had cancer or is cancer a "new" disease?
You don't hear of many folks dying of TB but heart disorders etc have taken over as leading causes.
Maybe in nature we trade one for another

i think illness and congenital defects are because of "glitches" in nature. i think they have environmental causes we aren't able to trace yet and some genetic factors.
i have to admit that this question is what is keeping me on my current path and is also why i can't bring myself to believe or worship any higher being.
i have a daughter that was born with a congenital birth defect known as alobar holoprosencephaly. basically her brain did not divide into 2 lobes. this is not one of those defects that can be caught early and reversed or anything spectacular like that. this defect happens in the first 2 or 3 months of pregnancy. it's one of the "do you have the child or do you not" defects. there is no "getting better," or as i like to say "miracles don't come in her size." my daughter got the light end of this stick; her facial features are just small, she has hydrocephaly (water on the brain) which requires a vp shunt, and a condition known as diabetes insipidous (salt diabetes.) she is 3 years old whith the abilities of a 3 or 4 month old. the severe end of children with her condition has the possibilty of cyclopia (having only 1 eye,) no nose, or other severe facial deformties, not having the ability to function at any level and even stillbirth.
so after my daughters birth, i tried turning to the bible to see what it had to say and i came upon john 9. it's the chapter where jesus is asked why a man was born blind, if it was because of some sin his parents commited or some sin he had committed. the answer was neither, he was born blind so that god could be glorified.
i'm sorry, but i just can't believe that my daughter was born this way to be a pawn in some sick eternal game.

If Atheists want to agree or not when ever something is credited to happening or evolving from nature. It is The God Yahweh that is being referred to. People including your sister are getting unnecessary diseases from eating the animals such as pigs, shellfish and all the other species of living creatures that The God Yahweh is telling us not to eat for disease prevention purposes in the human body listed in Leviticus chapter 11 in The Bible. Forget all other man made diets that differ from God's and you and your children will live a longer and healthier disease free life on Earth.

As you know, I believe in reincarnation. I think we choose many of the circumstances of our life before we come here.

You chose to live this life with heart disease. Please give that idea some thought and I have no doubt that you will see why you chose it. We come here to learn something, to educate our souls. Your challenge has been your health.

From some of your answers I gather that you were in the medical profession, maybe even a physician. Has your condition aided you in helping others?

My life has been challenges in relationships. Even before I was born my 'father' (sperm donor) abandoned us. I was adopted because my mother wanted a little girl but my father could not have cared less. Anyway, relationships have always been difficult for me and that makes me believe that I must have asked for it so I could learn from it.

definite. and its also its nature to ruin it. earth is continually replacing. there has been extinctions for the era of earths' historic previous, and they have all been organic. the planet become no longer outfitted to keep up existence for a lengthy era of time. that is continually attempting to succeed in equilibrium and could dramatically shift to finish that. even though it may't attain this equilibrium because there are too many aspects that play into it (organic and un-organic). the dino's aren't any more the first extinction, and by no skill even the biggest extinction. that is inevitable that the earth in basic terms isn't waiting to keep up human existence continuously, regardless of if we do not pollute. although, if we decrease our pollution then perchance we may be able to delay our existence for see you later as we may be able to. yet there'll come a time at the same time as the earth shifts to a diverse cycle and we turns into extinct, in basic terms as thousands and thousands of organisms contained in the previous. perchance if we glance at genetic manipulation shall we are living to inform the tale a dramatically diverse ecosystem. oh, and international warming is organic, yet we would properly be contributing to it and rushing up the technique. oh, and many scientists speculate that existence did not originate from earth. info for that is from mterorites. noticeably loopy hugh?

By the sins of men and sickness, and sin always leads to death. Here is a scripture for you to absorb and keep with you forever:

James 1: 12 - 15

Happy is the man that keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.

It is not God who causes disease and death, humans, namely men are to blame for most all catastrophes and chaos, disease in the world. Men just don't listen very well. I know I cannot wait until Armageddon. I hope I am amongst the living after that War is concluded.

Viruses evolve with in days. Sort of answers that question.
The Holy Ones, at least in my faith, are not all knowing and all powerful. In other words, **** happens.
No your sister didn't lose her colon because of some divine being. It's nature at her "worst". My thoughts are with her though.

You have my deepest sympathy and concern for your affliction...I will try to explain.....

since the fall of Adam, we are all imperfect in human nature, NOT like we were first created to be. We were created to be disease free and completely healthy, and happy.

creation suffers as well, and the earth is no longer a garden of eden, because man sins and does destructive things to his environment and to himself....we are out of balance now........it is not that just one man sinned....but everyone since that time has sinned.......we sin against ourselves and others.

evolution is wrong or each cancer and genetic abnormality would make us progressively stronger.....but the opposite case is true....we are getting weaker....and if you look at anything in nature, you will see that it grows, then dies...it starts out strong and organized and turns into decay at the end of a short existence.

there are several sources of illness:

fallen nature- nature out of balance causing infections of different sorts.

accidental injuries

environmental causes, which could be unseen...such as chemicals in our foods

actions of others - intentional or unintentional against our bodies....like someone who sells you something that makes you sick.....

our own personal sins or bad habits which bring a natural consequence when NOT repented of, or stopped....example lung cancer because of smoking, etc.

satan himself - to afflict you,and turn you in despair away from God, having you blame God instead of him. ( read the book of Job)

we all face different trials in this life...and you certainly have been hurt with illness.....in cases like this, we have to ask God for help....people need to understand that God does not automatically intervene in men's lives.

First, if one does not believe in Him or his provision and healing, there is no faith present, and He will not respond to unbelief.

second, he MAY respond if the person believes in Him and his healing nature.

third, He will most likely respond if the person actually ASKS him for help. Jesus said, we do not have because we do no ask.

fourth, we have to remember God is soverign. and we have to repsect his will.....he wills one of 2 things.....
(1) that we be healed.....
(2) that every person has to leave this earth at an appointed time set by him....and this event indicates it is our time to go

fifth, we pray with both of these in mind...trusting that God will help in a way that is in line with his ultimate will for us....he knows we are suffering, and he can comfort us, if we are to soon leave this earth

do not blame God for an illness....he did not give it to you....but he can help you through it....and he does love you...i have lost 2 friends to cancer, and my mother has gone now. I am not in perfect health either...but I have comfort that God is aware of what I need for each day....and i am at peace...so when my time is over...I will be ready to go on...God has healed me before...so I know he can do it again....but i am submissive to his will for me...and i look forward to the next life with him.
