While reading a questions about retired General Sanchez whom used to run the war in Iraq. A number of people brought up some very nice points. One said that Sanchez authorized the torture at Abu Ghraid while another accused him of the failures in Iraq. Previously, Bush has said that he communicates with his generals regarding the situation on the ground. So, if the torture scandal goes up to the former top commander of American forces in Iraq and I take Bush at his word, is it reasonable that Bush knew about the torture and did nothing? Further, one also states that Sanchez is responsible for the failures in Iraq. Since Bush is Sanchez's boss, don't those failures also reflect on him (Bush)?

Wasn't alive when JFK was president. My concern is with the current president not with one that sadly passed away before I was born. So, it comes down to the old a democrat did something 35 years ago so when I do something similar its okay?

There is a reason that Rumsfeld was asked to resign.

It's the Republican credo - always have a fall guy.

Yes and yes. However I don't think Sanchez is responsible for the abuse at Abu Ghraid. I think he's the fall guy. The President's method for not getting blamed himself is to send another general down the chute. That way they look wrong and the President looks like he is doing the right thing. He's getting by with it too. Nearly all the news stories about Sanchez's speech also brought up Abu Ghraid and that Sanchez went out because of it. That's the President's main problem, you know, he has just had such lousy help. Poor guy. (Yeah right!)

There is NO DOUBT that Bush and the military have made mistakes....It is a WAR though and mistakes ALWAYS happen in war. The problem is there is TOO much scrutiny on this . WAR is ugly it is hell it is the WORST....but when it is undertaken things are going to be done on BOTH sides that are reprehensible. That is what WAR IS. If it was pleasant we would grow fond of it. It is a life or death contest. We have been in a war on terror since 1979, just nobody cared to look at it until 9/11. I say fight to WIN!

Sanchez is one of many military leaders to speak out against the Iraq War and or speak out against policies in the Iraq War. I don't care for Bush but I believe that he was a puppet of Rumsfeld.

I thought you were going to ask if Bush ever gave Laura a dirty Sanchez. But to answer your question the buck stops on the Presidents desk, he is responsible for everything that goes on in the country.
