I have, and my kids have "memory boxes". We put little things inside that help us remember special events and people. It is amazing how well it triggers great memories. The confetti from the clown's pail at the circus, the favorite toy from the Christmas stocking that was slept with for years. The dog collar of your favorite pet, the first prize ribbons, favorite kiddy book, and uplifting cards that helped empower you!
I strongly encourage memory boxes!!!

People may not remember this but when I was six my mom bought me a "Happy Apple". It's a hard plastic apple shaped thing that have a bell of some kind that rings when you shake it. I love that thing still, I use to chew on the leaf and stem because they were soft. I will give it to my little girl if I have one.
