Why is it that some prayers are not answered, for instance why wont God regenerate limbs or cure people with Downs Syndrome?

Many of you have quoted Gods will but Mark 11:24 says "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours,"

This is unconditional, theres nothing about his will here.

Also why does he NEVER cure ANY amputees, some of them must be very deserving? Surely he would want to help some of them?

Prayer does always work, if it is within His Will and you are obedient to ALL of His Commandments, and you don't make a habit out of breaking them. Either God will give you an answer of yes, wait, or no. If you are "born of the Holy Spirit of God" and praying fervently and petitioning God for an answer in the "true Spirit of God" and in the name of Jesus Christ as our intercessor to Him, He will be sure to answer you. Whatever the answer is, it is within His Will for you. You are not to doubt God because it is that way for a reason, whether you like it or not.

Some prayers are answered, and some aren't answered. It depends on what you pray, and whether or not you belief in the One God. God always answers prayers with wisdom. Some times the answer to a prayer is delayed out of His wisdom like for a year or more than a year. One needs to be patient in getting the prayers' results or answer. If one is going through a difficulty God might answer the person after his or her difficulty or over, or even during it. Difficulties like missing limbs or Downs Syndrome are difficulties for those who have it, and such difficulties are tests for such people that would either make them stronger or weaker.

God answers all prayers. People simply do not always like or understand the answers. To God Down's syndrome children are perfect as they are and are given to us to show us humility. Look how many people with handicaps, as we like to call them, rise above the odds never grumbling about the fate they have been given. How many of us so called perfect in the flesh, able bodied people can boast the same?

Prayer is one of our greatest privileges as God's children, and even if God doesn't seem to answer your prayers at first, don't stop praying. God loves you, and no prayer goes unanswered.

Jesus once told a story about a poor widow who repeatedly asked a corrupt judge to do what was right. (You can read it in Luke 18:1-8.) Repeatedly the judge refused—not because her request was wrong, but because he just didn't care. But because of her persistence, he eventually gave in and granted her what she deserved. In a far greater way, Jesus said, God (who is righteous and does care for us) hears the prayers of His people, and we must never give up.

But let me add two things. First, realize that sometimes God is actually answering our prayers when we don't realize it—and the reason is because His answer may be "No" or "Wait." Yes, we think we know what's best for us—but God sees the whole picture, and sometimes He lovingly refuses to give us what we request, because He knows it isn't according to His perfect plan.

Second, remember that we have the privilege of coming to God only because Jesus Christ died for our sins. Have you given your life to Him? If not, let your first prayer be one of confession and faith, asking Him to come into your life as your Lord and Savior.

batgirl2... Regeneration goes against the laws of nature, yet Jesus brought made the blind see and brought the dead back to life. Interesting rationalization.

Could the real explanation be that the Bible is just a fairy tale, and in real life prayer doesn't work? After all, science has proved that prayers are answers at the same statistical rate as chance.

I think that people who have Downs syndrome are a gift to mankind. They teach us innocence, honesty and marveling at all that is beautiful around us. They teach us about unconditional love. Now isn't that what God is all about?

All things are good and bad at the same time. It's just how you perceive it...like right now that bottle of beer is telling me that it passionately desires me to drink its essence. I think intoxication is closest to Godliness...Cheers baby!!!

Prayer isn't a way to manipulate God. If it were to "work" as you say, then it would be manipulating God and God wouldn't be God if He could be manipulated.

We speak to God as a two year old speaks to his or her parents. We don't know what we are truly asking and we don't know what is best for us. The parents answer is designed to educate through experience and not to blindly grant wishes.

God uses doctors to heal some people. Regeneration is not possible. It goes against the laws of nature.
God will not go against what He created.

Prayer DOES always work, but not in the ways we want it to.
My twin died of cancer. I prayed for healing. It did not happen in the way that I wouldhabe liked. Her healing came when she died.
She was released from her suffering when she died.
One day we will all know the truth. God will explain it all to us.
He has a reason for everything.
Who am I to question the ruler of the universe?

God doesn't always answer prayers because if he answered everyone's prayers all the time, then everyone would be a Christian. That would leave no room for faith. We are all just here as a big test in the ultimate picture. But, if we had proof that god existed (i.e. all prayers answered) then we wouldn't need the inportant factor of faith. I hope you understand what I'm saying. I know what I'm thinking, but sometimes, I just can't put it out there correctly. Just remember that God is always there, he's just testing you to see if you are a TrueBlue Christian.

You lack understanding. Prayers are always answered just not the way some expect. THY will be done means just that. We can't begin to understand God's will but all things work for HIS glory.
