This is news to me.
The African-American population has been involved in NASCAR since day 1.
So take a look around and see there have been drivers,Charlie Scott,Wendel Scott,Willie T.Ribbs,Bill Lester NASCAR Officials, teams members and even in ownership.
There are fans.At Talladega sitting behind me was 4 African-Americans with there "LOWES 48" TEE-shirts,about 4 or 5 rows ahead of me were a mixed group including African-Americans,Latino and an Asian. So don't say they're not welcomed. It's narrowed minded thinkers like you are that are causing the problems in society.
Besides I'm a minority,I'm Native American.
So can the racism.

What about Willy T. Ribbs ran Nascar in 1986 and Wendell Scott, who won in 1963 at Speedway Park in Jacksonville, Fla.
And there is more, do some research its fun. I am an old Short Track Racer, now 65 years old and have not forgot Nascar's roots. Nascar in now ONLY a Money GAME. It boggles my mind that the average Nascar Fan did not know that a special deal was cut with Toyota. Toyota has never made a pushrod V8 engine for their production cars, which is a Nascar requirement. So Nascar let them build a special Nascar only motor!
That is way Dodge did not race for 20 years because they had no cars with V8's Yes Blacks are Welcome..Boo Toyota.

I've come across fans with many different backgrounds at races. Heck, a few months back a spanish co-worker approached me on how to get into NASCAR. She knew I was a big fan and I just directed her to some close Busch events. She and her boyfriend went and had a good time.
Most recently this past race at Dover, I sat behind a black couple who were VERY enthuastic Gordon fans......No one gave them a hard time what so ever. In fact they fit in just fine and their enthusiasm was quite entertaining. XD
So unless your here to piss off fans by spreading racial propaganda, I'm left (and hoping) to assume your just not well informed. If so, you might want to go check one out and see what the draw is for yourself.
And as far as drivers, racing in general has always had the door wide open. Its a problem that goes beyond just NASCAR though (look at other racing series). Racing has had black participants, but not many, it just doesn't really seem to have that drawing appeal for some reason. Today its a much bigger issue on account of the money being thrown around. I mean if race was THAT big of an issue in motorsports, where was Jessie Jackson and these other minority groups say 25 years ago when NASCAR and racing was a "joke" to people?
I personally don't care whose racing as long as the racing is good. It just sucks that politics like this overshadow the sole purpose. Which is probably why I don't care for the sport like I use to, he politics sucked the fun and care-free attitude right out of it.

Stop being an idiot your probablly african american and with the whole whitey is against us. And as a proven fact that african americans ARE welcome and anybody else is welcome to NASCAR is that a yahoo person put out an article a while back but in the year that said NASCAR owners are PURPOSELY looking for african americans, and spanish and mexicans and so forth because the sport needs diversity. Now im all for equal rights because thats fair but when you are looking for a driver because you want diversity and NOT solely because he/she is a good driver than you and/or your sport has major problems.

Are you the same person or should I say moron that asked this question earlier? I have friends who are black and are into NASCAR. In fact they take the time off from work and camp out at the track for whole time NASCAR is town. NASCAR is becoming more diverse. You need to get out to a race one of these days.

Every Nascar Race Ive been to has had African Americans in attendance, I have not saw anyone making them Un Welcomed. Why alot of African Americans choose not to attend is their business. The Civil War has been over for 142 years we are all AMERICANS!!!

At what race track in this country do you know of that any person was denied entry because of their race?
Your full of it!Just playing the race card!
Want somebody to feel sorry for the injustice your suffering??
I'll bet that you or any of your relatives, that you know of, have ever even been to Africa, let alone lived there??
Just as I don't know of any of my relatives that ever owned slaves!
Provide me with the proof that an African American was denied entry to any nascar event because of their race and I'll not only apologize, but I'll print this answer out and eat it!
But I don't expect you to be able to prove it because I know it didn't happen!!!
I'm thinking at some point people like you should be thinking about the reverse discrimination thing!!
If you don't like what I'm saying call Al or Jessie, I'm sure they will be glad to see things your way!

African Americans or Black Americans. It would be kinda like asking why white Americans aren't welcome at a rap concert. The answer is: They are welcome, they apparently don't want to go. It's the new millenium, it doesn't matter what race you are, unless the people you hang out with are stuck with that old racial stigma, then those people aren't very happy with life and are going to have a difficult time in any public place. And in reality, a good example is, the music industry breaks all these barriers.

This is news to me. I've never known of a black person being run out at any event.
As Charles Barkley has said "There are ignorant people in any group." I'm sure there may be a few anti-Black morons within NASCAR nation, just there are anti-White idiots in the NBA crowd- and trust me, they are there.
