It's so easy to get stalked by other people. Also you don't know what kind of crap that people are posting on the wall (links, pictures).
But the most annoying thing is going to a friend's myspace and it has 50 videos, an obnoxious background, blaring music, and as a result it freezes up ur IE/Mozilla Firefox or you wait 10 minutes for the page to load so you can post a comment....

There's no porn on MySpace.

MySpace is no different from chatrooms or any other networking sites. I really *do not* understand why people feel it's such a worry.

As long as children are educated & aren't idiots, they'll be fine. If a child gets themselves into trouble online, it's because their parents didn't educate them properly. Period.

I've been on MySpace for several years. If I don't want anyone seeing anything on my profile, I simply can check a little box to make it private. I can even check another little box to ensure no one can message or email me from that site unless they're on my friends/approved list.

Yes, some weird people have messaged me in the past when my profile hasn't been private. But you know, it's as simple as hitting delete.

What I find really concerning, is this logic - wow, I "met" someone online that seems so cool. We've chatted online for like, a couple months, so obviously I totally know them. They want to meet me, so since I know them, sure! - yeah, MySpace isn't the issue here at all. It's their mentality.

edit: No, there isn't porn on myspace. There may be $kanky people that post..'questionable' photos (in their own photo album) but as soon as they're found, they're deleted or that person's account is disabled.

Just so everyone's clear, there IS porn on myspace. Consider yourself lucky that you have not found it. As for my own concerns about myspace, I don't have any because I wouldn't let my kids use it in the first place. Porn (and pedophiles and whatever) are only a problem if your kid has access to them.

The main concern is that even smart kids that get good grades are getting into trouble with My Space. Look at that 17 year-old girl that ran away from home to go to Jordan or one of those Middle Eastern countries to meet a guy. Scary. A minor should not have unlimited access to the internet. Parents need to remember that computers, TV, and video games are not baby sitters.

My concern about Myspace is the fact that children are communicating on an underground "password protected" network, that very few parents have the ability to monitor. It's a parents duty to keep an eye on their children, but places like Myspace and private profiles are keeping the parents out of the loop. I caught my little cousin talk disrespectful about girls, bragging about drinking and smoking weed and he had pictures of guns and rappers on his myspace. When he's in front of his mother, he tucks his shirt in and speaks properly, and she has NO idea that he's acting like a little wanna be gang banger with his friends.

Viruses.
If your worried about porn and predators teach your kids right from wrong. I don't think kids should be allowed on myspace anyway. Sorry to sound mean I just really believe people need to stop blaming things on entertainment when the parents can actually prevent things by the way they raise their kids.

Porn should not be a undertaking. definite, myspace does have ppl sneaking in porn, yet you comprehend what, it particularly is organic for toddlers to look at porn. it particularly is how they locate out approximately their bodies extraordinarily interior the face of mum and dad who cant even say the notice vagina. Predators on the different hand is a undertaking. on line you may fake to be anybody and youngsters normally tell way too plenty approximately themselves to strangers on the internet.

I think that its a way children or any other age to sneek behind their parents. They can talk to other people that maybe their parents dont want them to talk to.
Its also a way to let people take pictures and advertise themselves.
They arent really alot of preditors. I mean... there is a block button. If the person doesnt like someone.. block them.
There isnt any porn on there. You may be talking about girls and guys taking very sexual pictures of themselves.

That people would rather sit and communicate through a computer. Another step in the disintegration of actual human contact in our society.
