*in its early states, (which is now) uses fear to control people
*introduces a new concept of beliefs about the world around us
*makes money off of selling things it shouldn't really have the right to do so (carbon foot prints)
*They have their messah (Al gore)
*he sacrificed his political life for global warming (maybe not, but he sure wasted a lot of time on nothing)
*completely faith based since their are "scientists" saying that global warming is correct, and many others saying it is not
So why does global warming have its own section when the religion and spirituality section would do it fine?

ummm thanks paul s, but i am mature enough to understand how to respond. But your way of telling me how to respond is not mature. Oh well, but you still didn't define anything, you provided an example. So essentially it makes global warming a theory, because by your same logic I have some evidence that directs towards the idea that asian people look like pokemon's and from such, all asian people are decedents of pokemon. Still faith based since some religions even possesses scientific evidence

"*completely faith based since their are "scientists" saying that global warming is correct, and many others saying it is not"
You have no idea what "faith" means, apparently.
Looks like "Global Warming Denial" is the new religion.
=====================
"Paul S, then enlighten me... if you are so sure about your statement"
Okay, I will. Read carefully, and think before you respond.
You wrote that belief in global warming is "completely faith based since their [sic] are 'scientists' saying that global warming is correct and many others saying it is not".
Now, you're not claiming that the fact that scientists support global warming is what makes it "faith based". Clearly what you meant was that the fact that there is disagreement about global warming makes global warming "faith based". That is simply silly on your part: there is disagreement about _everything_.
For example, most people falsely believe that the reason that things float around in the Space Shuttle is that it's so high up that it "has escaped the Earth's gravitational field". In fact that's completely false (the real reason is that the Shuttle and its contents are in free fall as they're orbiting the Earth). It should be obvious that the fact that many people are ignorant about why things float in the Shuttle does not make the correct answer "faith-based".
"Faith" is belief in the absence of any evidence. There is, in fact, plenty of evidence for global warming, gathered at great expense and through great efforts by scientists. You may argue that there is also evidence against it, but that doesn't make belief in global warming "faith based". The fact is that there is evidence for global warming, and that scientists' belief in global warming is supported by that evidence, and that scientists seek evidence to support their belief. Belief in global warming is NOT faith based.
In a nutshell:
1 - "Faith-based" means "believed in the absence of evidence".
2 - Belief in global warming is based in evidence.
3 - Therefore belief in global warming is not "faith-based".
Do you get it now?
Here's how you should NOT respond:
1 - Don't change the subject. If you come back with "but there's lots of evidence that there isn't any global warming" or "Some of that evidence scientists have is fake", you're completely missing the point. Doing so will of course confirm my strong suspicion that you haven't made any effort at all to understand this topic. We're talking about whether or not belief in global warming is faith-based, not whether or not it's true. If you can't tell the difference, you shouldn't have claimed to in your original question.
2 - Don't call me names. I just gave you a detailed respectful answer. If you can't respond in kind, I get to claim the moral high ground.
3 - Don't get all frantic and incoherent just because you turned out to have been wrong. It's okay to be wrong - I'm wrong fairly often. Less often than most people around here, but at least occasionally. Unless you really understand my comments here, don't try to defend your claim - you were wrong, and you should just simply live with that fact. I won't bite your head off for it - you can see from this response that I don't do that.
==========================
Sigh. I'm not surprised that you couldn't manage this.
Go away and think about it a while.
Given enough time, maybe you'll figure it out.

This isn't a fear to control people at all this is a reality happening all around the world in Australia we have Ice Burgs floating in our oceans from Antarctica and now half the coast of Antarctica now no longer exists. The Great Barrier Reef is dying and over three hundred miles of the reef no longer exists. Islands in Micronesia no longer exist and many other
Islands in the north and south pacific are vanishing off the global map and people are and have been relocated to other higher Islands which are also being washed away. By rising seas from polar caps melting. Al Gore is the United Nations Ambassador on Global Warming. Believe me Mr Gore is not making money from telling the world of this very real threat.
Every country on this planet including Australia (except the USA) has now signed the Kyoto Protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to save the planet. All populations and country's on the planet (except the USA) are working together to reduce this very real global threat that is killing our planet.
During APEC when your President was in our country he sat and listened how all the counties have been working together to reduce greenhouse gas emission further creating a World Earth Day of no greenhouse gas emissions. George Bush is still pig headed and refuses to sign the Kyoto Protocol or to reduce any US greenhouse gas emissions. Maybe all the people in the US might take notice when all your coasts and Islands are gone and it truly becomes a threat to your country. Which has and is happening now all over the planet.

I don't think that global warming is the new religion. It is a valid topic that everyone around the world should consider. There is a lot of evidence to support the fact that we are destroying our planet at an alarming rate. We should all take steps to make this world a better place regardless of what religion we believe in.

I tried not to answer any questions on yahoo today, but I need to say something about this. Global warming is about the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This carbon dioxide is generated by cars and coal plants. What you don't think about are the people whose health will be affected by this CO2 which is a pollutant. Over 2 million people a year die from respiratory related illnesses caused by pollution. Reason enough to try and curb the CO2 emissions. Of course if you think you can go without breathing or won't come down with something like asthma, then why worry about it? You can check that number two million with the World Health Organization.

climate replace is a reality, it truly is been happening because the earth began. man made international warming is surprisingly arguable, and is not any way primary by using technology as a reality. Ian Plimer (Professor of Earth Sciences at Adelaide Uni) has written a close and perfect e book debunking the data for guy-made international warming that has been given by using climate replace scientists. some aspects of his e book were disputed by using scientists. The earth has been cooling for the wonderful decade (scientists agree in this). we are also at present in an ice age, so warming is to be anticipated quicker or later. A small carbon tax has a thoroughly insignificant result on carbon emissions. If we favor to lessen emissions (it truly is nevertheless very uncertain no matter if it truly is functional or not) we ought to continuously be making use of nuclear skill, dramatically lowering international inhabitants boom by using any ideal moral skill available, and adopting mass delivery.

It's not a new religion. Global warming is inevitable, but we're certainly speeding the process up & making the Earth even closer to being inhabitable. I don't know about you, but I really don't want the human race to die out, especially if we can do something to help it, or at least lengthen our time here.

Hmm.
Paul S. gave you a perfectly good, respectful answer, and in response, you threw a childish tantrum? What exactly were you hoping to accomplish with that?
When someone goes to that kind of effort to help you to understand something - at your request, I might add - you should thank that person and make some effort to come to an understanding.

I think if I were you I would be seriously looking into the science behind it. The research is not based on one hot weekend in May. You might want to look at where the contradictory claims are coming from, and whether there might be self interest in their version of the weather.
Other than that your points about how it resembles a religion are, errrr, interesting.

Well if Bush believes then we know it is wrong!
Or else things are so appallingly bad that they are simply unable to deny it any more.

The high priest Gore, has not quite got enough to bow down to him yet. I agree that Bush has caved into the lunacy, I wonder why no one is commenting on the LACK of hurricanes that we should now be having. Hmm, I guess that was just a little over-site. I did hear some blasphemers up north New York way ranting and raving something about a very "cold" winter and how hard it would be for people to buy heating oil. I guess that is one of the consequences of the global warming, it gets real cold.
