Please do not tell me that the only reason is because they go door to door.

Or that they do not celibrate christmas or other holidays..

Most religions are about the same. They want their people to hang around other people of that faith.. They think their religion is the right one and everyone elses is just wrong.

Could it be that they do not believe in hell..? Ever ask them why they do not believe in hell..? You might find it interesting..

To call them a cult is just not fail and down right mean..

If you define it as a Cult then most if not all religions are cults.

I would like a REAL adult reason as to why someone does not like them..

So YES, I have 'looked' into their religion..

And for the one person. Exactly have they lied about that other religions have NOT lied about also.. ???

I actually think they understand the Bible's meanings more than so-called Christians.

About the gran thing. Im so sorry. It has crossed my mind before that people dress up like us and have our magazines (because we put them in public places so anyone wanting a read can pick them up for free) and are doing this to make us look bad. I dont know, their are some very odd people out their.
And we're defiatenly not a cult xD. The reason jehovahs wittnesses have 'split' themselves off from conventional christianity is because the churches were preaching false teachings. They were changing the bible to make it say what they wanted. And in the past when the bibel was in the oringinal language (hebrew), educated people started translating so that only people that could read english could share in gods word, but the churches didnt like it because they knew people would know that what they were preaching were lies. So they started burning people found with translated bibles. With the bible around their neck. Actual historic moment there xD. So thats why jehovahs wittnesses separated themselves.

As a Jehovah's Witness I have found people hate us because we are so happy. Have you ever met happy people when you are not happy? Unhappiness turns to hate. I work with many people of different religions. and People also have their view points until they get to know what the Bible actually says. Jehovah's Witnesses view points are Jehovah's view points. Judging us for following scripture is judging Jehovah God himself. :) People can hate all they want. I'm not the one judging them.

I don't personally hate them. I don't agree with any Christian denomination, but their theories are interesting to read about I suppose. I'm going to give some examples to display my p.o.v.

Most people however, are annoyed by their pushiness. I know, for example, that there have been several that have knocked on my door, and been so sweet when I said I wasn't interested. I can see though why some others may not be fond of them.

But, my Grandmother has had a totally different experience - coming right into the house without knocking, forcing their way thru the door, coming back repeatedly, etc. I know this isn't an example as all, but this certainly doesn't help their image. When a person from any group that is representation of the whole group acts in such a manner, it obviously is going to look bad against the whole.

I also have known a few Jehovah's Witnesses personally. Some, haven't given me any issues at all. One friend I had, had very devout parents - they had a child that required a blood transfusion, and refused it due to their faith, with the belief that they'd be feeding on blood & it was wrong & sinful. The child unfortunately did pass away. Now, I can understand, it was their personal choice, and completely respect that. I can also understand how others would see this as a terrible thing.

Another reason - the flag/the national anthem, they view it as worshipping the flag/our country. A lot of them are quite rude about it when voicing their displeasure for the anthem & flag, and refuse to listen to reason. There are a lot of people that don't listen to reason, but most of the people I've overheard or even attempted myself to talk to, they're impenetrable & insist on it being worship.

Other Christians sometimes find their stance on Christmas offensive. They insist that Jesus himself didn't celebrate his own birthday, so no one else should. Christians generally like to celebrate, in celebration of their saviour, so I can see why this would be a conflict.

The cult factor. By definiton:
1. followers of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices
2. an interest followed with exaggerated zeal; "he always follows the latest fads"; "it was all the rage that season" [syn: fad]
3. followers of an unorthodox, extremist, or false religion or sect who often live outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader
4. a religion or sect that is generally considered to be unorthodox, extremist, or false; "it was a satanic cult"
5. a system of religious beliefs and rituals; "devoted to the cultus of the Blessed Virgin"

A lot of religions can fall into this, easily. However, I believe what makes Jehovah's Witnesses stand out is when a family member leaves, the devout Jehovah's Witnesses tend to completely abandon that family member. That is really an extremist action, so it is understandable why outsiders of the faith would see it in a negative light.

All of these things, tend to be shown from the more devout or radical followers, however, every Jehovah's Witness is going to be an example of people of that faith, naturally, that's the way humans work.

they are or should i say WE are very spiritual people.... and were open to anyone's understanding, not all jw's are the same, some can be very harsh and pushing(which gods word teaches us not to be) and others are very understanding and open to others understanding(the way jehavoh teaches us to be) because they may be confused in many ways or just plain dont understand.. and as your reading understand im only 14 and still i dont think WE are brain washing in any way... i myself think we are veryy kind and generous people...

1) we give FREE literature and EVERYTHING is FREE period

2) we give our labor and time to show that we do CARE about others opinions and what they think about the bible, spiritually or not

3)and we also verry rarley ask for any money(unlike churches)
we ask for money to make the letature and publications and books, that other Jehovahs Witnesses are far away in somthing peopl;e may call a school(which it really kinda is) and take there time and energy everyday putting there effort up to make publications.

so as a 14 year old girl!! Im very hurt and very... idek how to explain how i feel.....
that people would actually say such hurtfull things about jehovah and his people!!!

Because they promise a payoff some day...ever lasting life, protection from the end of the world....IF you submit to their rituals and follow their rules handed down by the watchtower governing body. This sounds like most one god religions. And like most faiths based on a holy book there is no place for women at the top of their management. We are all doomed unless we convert. Did you ever notice just how many people the bible says must die for Jesus to return. To me this is a problem. Why can't church be a activity we go to in order to show respect for something greater than us. But NO there is only one true faith! Religious certainty is a danger to humans....history shows this to be a true. I think the religion we see today is more about personal ego than anything else.

John 15:19
19 If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

As we follow closely Jesus' footsteps in our every day to day living, We are hated for it.
Our love towards our neighbour is another quality we show and stand out as different to other religions.

I asked a Man at the doors Would he support his fellow religious believers from the same religion in another country if their two countries went to war?
His reply: I have to support my country.

Jehovah's Witnesses love their neighbours.

Just to name a few reasons why we are hated and why we stand out as a True Religion.

As a baptized Catholic, i can say that i do no longer hate jehovah's witnesses. In each and every of the sermons I heard, I by no skill heard the Catholic Priest carry forth hatred adversarial to everybody, such as Jehovah's witnesses. i imagine your acquaintances are poor representatives of their respective faiths. on the different had, there are a form of fundamentalist christians who hate all and multiple, such as Catholics, muslims, jehovah's witnesses, and mormons.

All what JW teach is the word of Jehovah. Why don t you take the time and effort to listen to them, compare what they tell you to your bible. You may find that they are telling you the truth after all.
“You will be hated by all people on account of my name.” “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.” (Matthew 10:22; John 15:18)
The hatred the world has for them only strengthens my faith. Matt 7:13-29
People there is only one gate to everlasting life as promised by Jehovah and it s narrow, only a few find it.

Because they are so misunderstood. I too, have many friends who just happen to be Jehovah's Witnesses. They are wonderful people and live out what they believe in. Yes, they too are imperfect people but aren't we all. Let's leave the judging to God. It's not our job, but we do it anyway. Remember the scripture that says not to judge lest you be judged as well. Let's keep that in mind when dealing with others who do not believe in the same things we believe in. It is our right to believe in what we want to believe in; let's give that same right to others who don't believe the exact same thing as we do. And leave the judgment call to its rightful judge who is GOD. Not us.
