Jesus told Peter if you love Me, feed my sheep. You can serve the Master by feeding His sheep with the Word and bringing others in the salvation fold.

Yes, You can serve God by doing Kingdom work. There are many people that are not saved. Tell them that Jesus Christ died for their sins. You can improve yourself, but put this knowledge and skill to use for the Kingdom of God. It is not how much knowledge or skill you have. It is of no value to you until you impart it to others.

God will judge you on how you used your knowledge in disseminating His word. You have to give it to others trying to uplift them, edify them, enlighten them and encourage them in the light of what Jesus, the prophets and the disciples taught in the Bible.

Remember the world needs you. There are 200,000 people that die everyday and go to hell. You can make some dent in Satan's kingdom by bringing people to Christ with your knowledge. That is the real purpose for which you were made. When you fulfill that calling then you will feel satisfied.

In order to get closer to God, scientific fasting and prayer will help.
Read books on fasting. Build up to it gradually. First, one day then two days, and so no. Get some medical advise on it as well. Prayer and fasting builds up your anointing and eventually you will feel a stronger presence of God and hear his voice more clearly.

If you have trouble praying, make up a list of all the things that you want to pray about. This will help you considerably.

Mate, its quite simple: it seems like you're relying on your indepth studies to make you feel close to God. If you are truely saved then you are clothed with the righteousness of Christ: God can't love you any more than he already does. So I'd simply encourage you to remind yourself of what God has done for you in Christ and by his Holy Spirit, and you will be filled with gratitude, worship, and, yes, love.

I don't know whether you've truely been saved and become part of God's family: but if so it doesn't matter whether your feeling spiritually depressed or not in the grand scheme of things: God loves you, he has called you from you sin to be holy, you are holy in his sight because of Christ, and you will be holy when you go to be with him in heaven.

My heart goes out to you mate. Its not about the quality of your prayers or even how you feel: its about the fact that God is close to you and helping you through life.

I pray that you may recieve the peace, joy, assurance and love that comes from salvation.

If you pray to God, ask him to bring you closer to him and his Holy family, who is also your family. I recently found the same thing, but I was praying, not really feeling like I was doing anything, so I used one of my bedside tables, put a nice picture of Jesus and Mary up,my bible on the table, and a candle, I light the candle at prayer time and look at the flame as if it were Jesus present in that time with me in the room, I started to pray outloud as praying silent led me to lack of concentration. Maybe if you did something like that it would help you feel closer, put some things in or around the area in which you want to pray. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Continue to read your Bible daily. A few good daily devotionals that can help you understand your relationship with God better are: My Utmost For His Highest, Streams In The Desert, and God Calling. There is also a good study guide available titled "Experiencing God" by Henry T. Blackaby & Cluade V. King.
Search your heart and ask God to reveal what it is He wants of you.

There is no better way of LOVING GOD other than praying (which is the most important thing that you should do):

Following His Commands; not harming anyone, anything on His Chosen-Home, Earth, for us; not fruitlessly disputing over menial matters with His other Creatures; and not causing harm to anyone.

If you follow these simple things, than you will realise that you will begin to Love God.

Try it out; no jokes!

You serve God and worship God by serving others and letting your life style and speech witness the fact that you serve God. There are people just waiting to find fault with you some way some how. Prayer is the most important. But not for self, for others, Jesus said to denie thy self and follow Him, and He wold make fishers of men out of them. You must become a fisher, for men(and women), not fish.

To love God is to obey his will and commandments. In a very simple term, to love God is to live in righteousness, doing things not against God. The Bible is very clear in Matthew 22: 37-40, which says, "Love God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and with all your mind. And by loving your neighbor as you love yourself. To make it simpler and easy to understand to love God is not to do bad things that will hurt others. As the Bible says, 'Anything you do for the least of your brother, you are doing it to me." When we talk to God in our moments of reflection, we talk to him as a friend, as a father, as an officemate, or even as a boss. Be honest and be sincere in your feelings.

The old Jewish prayer, the Shema, says it all. Hear O Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is One. You shall love the love the Lord your God with all your mind, with all your strength and with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself."
When asked of Jesus what more one can do, Jesus said go then, sell all that you have and give to the poor and follow me.
Perhaps the Lord is calling you to some kind of ministry.

Love God with all your heart, your soul and mind... Wake up and before going to sleep with prayer and thanksgiving... Mind you our love for God can never surpass His love for us. If we pay attention to HIs teachings, making a go of the Great Commission in our daily walk, we show we love HIm. We are hindered by obstacles in life. We are afraid to stand up for our faith.
