I think that any being that says " Obey me or I will cast you into a lake of fire for all eternity and beyond" can not be called mercyfull. if anything I would call such a being spitefull and childish

I KNOW MY GOD is merciful EVERY day... after all I've been through and done in my life.... Oh yea! And I thank HIM and praise Him for it!!! You should too, with all the garbage we have going on in our lives...
Lam 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Best wishes.

In the excessive goodness of His heart,Merciful Jesus promises that:"Whosoever shall have kept with devotion and love in his house,my divine portrait, will be preserved from the chastisement, for,as an example of the ancient Hebrews who had marked their houses with a cross made with the blood of the pascal lamb and were preserved by the Angel of Extermination, like - wise will it be in these times for those who honour Me by exposing My image."

Yes certainly God is merciful. it is we who do not have heart to forgive.Hence whole trouble in the life and in the world.. God never punish any one. People get into problem of their own make. Every action has its own reaction/ what you sow you reap. Therefore every religion who created God made God most merciful.
best wishes

It depends. He called for the merciless slaughter of men, women, and children -- entire settlements. He put his own people through hardship and suffering (even his most loyal subject -- and just to prove a point to Satan). He caused mass extinction.
But there are numerous stories of him being kind and merciful as well. It really depends on the situation, and it would seem, on his mood.
Thumbs down for truth, I know. Read the Old Testament, people. It's all there.
