Was it from illness, dieting etc?

I know exactly what you mean when you mean when you said you are now heavier than you started. I blame Christmas too!

I sprained my ankle January 11, 2004, while I was in the Navy and ready to retire. My weight ballooned up to 284 in February. I was embarrassed that my retirement uniform was going to be a struggle to put on at that size, and I didn't want the young kids deciding on a naval career to look at me as an awful example of how they were going to look if they made it to a retirement.

I signed up for 24 hour fitness and spent for six sessions with a trainer. That got the ball rolling. I swam until I could rehab, then I made it a point to get physical.

When that last physical fitness test rolled around in June, I had lost 33 pounds, lost 9% body fat and improved all my test scores by 15% across the board. I didn't even "suck it in" when they measured me. I could have just quit on myself and retired, but I thought my troops deserved to see a winner walking off the retirement ceremony stage.

I wish I had the money to kick start again - it's three years after my retirement and I'm not in as physical a job anymore. I miss it.

The fastest I ever lost weight was 10 pounds in 1 week, however, it is a fact that the fslower you take weight off, the slower and harder it is to come back...if you want to lose weight, dont take shortcute or use pills or anyhting....just add some exercise and eat the right foods...i gained those pounds right back, but since i have started a real regiment over the past year or so, I lost 60 pounds, just from cutting out the crappy foods adn exercising on a regular basis.

It was not at all healthy but a year or so back I lost close to 10 pounds in one week. I was not educated about the horrible consequences of just not eating for a while and saw it as a great way to lose weight and quick! I realize now how bad it is so I have managed to keep that weight off but in a much healthier manner! :)

3 stones in 12 weeks. Low carb/high protein diet with lots of water (at least 2 litres per day). Walked 3 miles per day (moderate speed in the evening) with ankle weights on which added that bit of resistance. Worked for me.
