He has been too long in the jungle hanging around primates and has developed this sickening human behavior of prefering animals to people,going so far as to convince himself that there is a connection through evolution uniting him with apes,the old guy has not long left on Earth and you would think with his intelligence he would be preparing to meet his God,but no the ego is such a terrific barrier for him and those like him.

The Pope, Catholic Church, Church of england and mainstream church homes all settle for evolution and the large bang!! IDEOLOGY a concept it really is fake or held for the incorrect motives yet is idea with such conviction as to be irrefutable. So Christians have a loving and forgiving god and fundamentalist - properly - in basic terms aren't any more Christians!!!!

Same reason most other atheists do - not finding any evidence. Attenborough, Dawkins et al have spent their entire lives looking where the real evidence is most likely to be. They've found none.
