I believe as a Christian that it is important to confront arguments against Christianity because it will strengthen your faith.

One argument against it is the idea that the Christian version of Satan is made up and does not agree with the Jewish version of Satan and that it evolved over time and that Satan was NOT supposed to be a bad guy at first, but was an angel that worked WITH the Lord as a kind of prosecuting attorney. Another attack against Christianity is that Jews do not believe in the concept of Heaven and Hell like Christians do.

Here is my rebuttal:

Jews ONCE believed in the same version of Satan that Christians do, but the Bible clearly states that Jews fell away from the Truth of the gospel, so it's not suprising that they no longer believe in the same version of Satan and Heaven and Hell like we do. The archeological and scriptural evidence back this up. The Christian idea of Satan is NOT made up.

What are your thoughts?

I haven't seen too many (any) people argue that no god exists because the xian version of Satan doesn't match up with the jewish version.

Even if at one point it was the same satan (and frankly I couldn't care less) it's not proof that satan exists.

So not much shooting down there bubba.

I shall be interested to see if you vote for someone who agrees with you

My thoughts are that this is not what I would consider a good use of my time. Stop thinking about Satan and arguments. You were put on this earth to do good deeds and help all living creatures. Making up arguments to defend Christianity will not further your cause one bit. Time's a wasting! Get busy!

You might want to talk to a Rabbi. He will set your head straight. Or just show you the door... probably the latter.

If anything fell away from anything, it was Christianity from Judaism. And then Protestants fell away from Catholicism. And I would guess that whatever you believe in fell away from Protestantism some time ago... in other words, your beliefs are the fake of a fake of a fake. And because with every schism the logical structure of the religion seems to have suffered serious damage, Jewish beliefs kind of make sense, Catholic beliefs are borderline insane, Protestantism has gone off the cliff and yours... well... never mind.

Fair?

"The Christian idea of Satan is NOT made up."

Yes, it IS made up. Unless you have some evidence that proves Satan's existence?

I don't even think atheists care about the Christian Jewish continuity differences for imaginary satans.

I don't know, but I do know this. At the computer lab at my community college there are quite a few Muslim females and I have noticed one Jewish male. When I see them I always smile at them. They smile back. I don't care if they are Muslim, Jewish, Wicca, or Buddhist they have a belief in God, Allah, and/or their spiritual being. That to me is a plus in my book. I expect them to be in general good people, because they have standards that they must abide by. If one does something wrong I am disheartened by it, and hope that they will change.

As for the atheist, I expect them to be just human.
___
I mean I don't expect anything out of an atheist. Good or bad, whatever. If they are good then okay, if they are bad then okay too. They are just human.

Yes in fact it is made up, from a mistranslation. Hasatan simply meant adversary. There was no Satan or hell in Judaism. I would be truly fascinated to see some of this archaeological evidence that you have for Satan

The problem is that the Jews use the Old Testament and Christians rely on the New Testament. You are not going to convince anyone of anything.

In response to "Flova"'s answer: If you're going to argue Christianity you may want to get your facts straight. Unless the Bible has recently be rewritten I don't recall ANYWHERE in the Bible where God made his Angels bow down to a man (Adam).

first and foremost, stop picking on the jews. the jews were born into God's family. as christians, we're adopted. and a great number of jews followed Christ. they were messianics, and they were around long before the ''one true church'' came along and killed most of them off, or just persecuted them unmercifully until they joined the roman church.

as far as heaven, hell, and satan go, nothing evolved. it just took time to be revealed. the entire old testament is like that. it's built on revelation, and the revelation of God takes a long long time to be recorded.

i don't mean to be rude, but i didn't see anything saying ''this is how we know God exists.'' makes your statement kinda... well... not all that useful.
