I asked this question earlier but used the word fire. Several people took it that they would fire me from my job. I mean real fire. They said I would be thrown into a pit of fire.
Assault in most places is the threat of violence. Is this not a threat of violence?

Pinklayn... I think trying to get people to join your religion under duress is very ridiculous don't you think?

So if they say I am going to hell and burn forever that is not a threat of violence... but if they say they will burn me now just a little that IS a threat of violence?
Are you hearing yourself?

Save my soul from who, Pinklayn..., the same merciful loving god they want me to believe who wants to burn me with fire. I am his child and he wants to burn me with fire? Do you burn your child with fire when they do wrong. WTH, literally.

There is no religion there is just God. You can't find God in the Bible or any "Holy" text written by man to manipulate you. You find God in yourself, and the world around you. He is a living God which you can interact with. My God is a loving God who would never ever burn you with fire or cause harm to come upon you. God wants the best for you. He wants to teach you his child how to live perfectly and have a wonderful life. That is God.
And if you don't believe that God won't wish ill upon you. You just don't believe... big deal. You can find him in your unbelief sometimes more so than actually believing. Especially if you have a misconception of who and what God really is.

They meant after you were dead clearly. If you do not convert ( some branch of Christianity probably ) you will burn in a pit of fire (Hell). And threats will not get you thrown in jail unless you're threatening the President. But you might have a case for hate speech. Someone badgering you for your religious preference or lack there of could be construed as a hate crime. hope that helps.

legally the person would have to take a step toward doing it in order for you to file charges of assault. assault is a threat followed by a step towards doing what was threatened.
in this case the person is saying you're gonna go to hell if you don't join his cult.

i dont know about assault ... depends on the work place ... as far as law, since they didnt actually do anyhting I dont think you can file for assault but you can prob get a restraining order and get them in trouble if not fired at work. If you seriously feel threatened tell your boss and contact your local police, they will be able to direct you to do what is best for you.

Unfortunately this is not assault and you can't have any charges of this nature brought against them. You can however get a restraining order placed upon them due to the threats.

No, you cannot file assault. Forcing you to join other's religion is categorized to the threatening/blackmailing category. They can't force you to join their religion if you don't want to. I suggest before you file a case, sort this out with them and tell them you don't want to join their religion. If that doesn't work, then it's time to call the police.

If you mean they said after you were dead your soul would rot in he!!, then yes...I think you should go file charges. (insert sarcasm)
You are being a little ridiculous don't you think!
You should actually take it as a compliment. This person cares enough about you to try and save your soul! Maybe they went about saying it in the wrong way, but their intentions were admirable.
So let me ask you what you consider duress. Were they actually holding you down with a Zippo over your head? Are you hearing YOURself?
And no, I would not burn my living child with fire, smart one!
But, I do teach my kids the word of God, take them to church, and let them know that if they do not trust Jesus as their savior, and accept the grace he has provided for us, that the bible says when we DIE our souls will spend eternity in the fire of hell instead of in heaven with him.

The correct term would be "terroristic threatening" except in Alabama where it would be considered "excessive, neighborhood amusement."
