How hard would it be to be both good in stamina and speed? Like a footballer is e.g Thierry Henry, Ronaldinhio, etc.. Where your sprint time would be around 10.2-11.5 secs while still being able to run long distances ( marathons )? I wwant to achieve this but wondering how hard would it be?

it would be really hard if you really want to compete.asides from the fact that you have to really train and maintain your body and form for running. but go for it

There's only so much time in a day. There's a human fatigue factor. Plus the fact that endurance and sprint speed are polar opposites.

Meaning you have to put in lots of time and distance running to do a marathon. Sprinting and strength require lots of time developing those attributes. If you could train 24 hours a day, you MIGHT be good at both but injury, fatigue, etc., would probably do you in.

Approaching football season, concentrate on football. Approaching football off-season, transition into longer runs. Eventually, the 2 types of training will complement each other, but not to the point where you'll be Superman at both.

Good Luck

It is possible to have sprint speed and distance endurance. Footballers do not run marathons. The experts claim that footballers run 7 miles during a match. If you notice some of the players run much more than the other players and no one runs all of the time.

It takes them 2, 45 minutes halves with a break in the middle to cover this distance, and most of it is jogging, walking, or standing.

To be able to sprint a fast 100 meters and still have training to run a marathon (26.2 miles) would be very hard.
The distance running harms your sprint ability.
Marathon runners can still sprint, but not 10.2 seconds.

The word to use is "dedication", you have to be very dedicated. Many marathon runners run every day, or do sometype of training. I did my first marathon this summer, and it was a very grueling endevour. If you want to obtain both side endurance and strength you have to have a training program that addresses both. No it won't be easy, but while it may be hard, it will be a very rewarding. And a lot of training is mental, and being dedicated isn't at all easy. If you want something hard enough you can do it.
