I smoked with my new labret piercing and it was fine. Just clean it regularly with salt water, not too much though cause it can irritate it and don't poke it too much! If your still not sure, just go back and ask again!

I have four tongue piercings and smoked after all of them. There's no issue as long as you make sure you keep your mouth clean. As mentioned before, Listerine is a good one, make sure you clean you teeth thoroughly and rinse with the Listerine after this too. I didn't bother rinsing after every cigarette (it takes the taste away!) and never had any problems, but if you want to be ultra safe you probably should do. Congratulations on your new piercing and I hope yo get a lot of enjoyment from it!

there really shouldn't be a problem, but to be safe use Listerine. Using anything else will put a film on the hardware and might lead to slight degradation of the piercing site. By that I mean, it might get a little harder to move the hardware around if needed. Most pros use Listerine to fight infection because it is the best product available

hate to say it if you smoke religiously, but you really should stop smoking for at least 4 weeks. i don't know why you're piercer said you could if you wanted too, but the guy that does my piercings and tattoos stresses that that's a big NO. plus why take the chance?

Some to the side, and use mouthwash every time you smoke, eat, and drink anything other than water. You should be fine if you do that. Eat ice cream. It will help the swelling go down, and it's easier than holding ice on your lip.

You shouldn't smoke for the first few days until it starts to heal. It's not a good idea to have tar from cigarettes going into an open wound. But once its healed you should be fine.

If you think that smoking will get it infected you are probably right! Trust your own instincts! If it is an infection try doing this, wash the area with hydrogen peroxide every couple of hours. It's cheap, effective, and safe. Dentists recommend swishing with Hydrogen Peroxide to people who smoke anyways because it helps prevent gum disease and whitens your teeth (just a little). It's crazy the way it fizzes up in your mouth but it doesn't taste bad compared to listerene. Take care of yourself.

When you have any oral piercing, you should rinse your mouth with Original Listerine (the yellow kind) or H2Ocean Oral Rinse following anytime you eat, drink, or smoke.

yeah, I gotcha....
some smoke leaves more residue than others, so try not to make contact with the piercing at all, and rinse every time, you should be ok if you're careful and clean

If it get's worse, you may have to take it out to let the swelling go down.
