Short Answer: No
Long Answer: The Army teaches values that some people can embrace and live by should they join by the age of 20 or so. Once a bum, always a bum. I'm an infantry squad leader and former Army recruiter and I'll be the first to say that I am saddened by the quality of recruits that join the Army. The values that are supposed to be imprinted on a new soldier's personality in basic training are impossible to force upon someone like this. If your mommy and daddy didn't raise you right, the Army won't make you a good person. Leave the bums in the civilian world. Once they become responsible indivuals, they can join and I'll be happy to not have to wipe their *** after they get in.

As the military follow a health criteria with regards recruitment why should they invest time, the taxpayers money and lots of effort to reduce these people to a standard fit for service in the military??

As America is still a democracy the over two thirds of the American population who are obese and disregard their doctors advice have the right to do so, and there is no justifiable reason they should be drafted.

Particularly as no Draft is in existence at the moment.

If there parents let them do it I believe they have the right to make those choices however poor they may be. We have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and to me a draft rubs completely against those ideals and drafting somebody due to a lifestyle violates those rights even further in my opinion.
