Well, I'd need to know how it looks now. What's been done to it to make in non-original?

There were a whole series of British military rifles that Americans collectively call ".303s" and "Lee Enfields" and you need to be more specific to talk about it with people and find information.

Odds are you have one of two models:

A "SMLE No. 1 Mk III" which is WWI era to early WWII.

Or you have a Enfield No. 4 Mk 1, which is WWII era to the early 1960s.

These are the most common, but there are some rare and collectable other models as well.

The SMLE has the rear sight on the barrel, the No.4 has the rear sight to the rear of the bolt.

If only the stock and stock hardware is gone, you can find these around. If the barrel has been cut or it's been drilled for a scope, go ahead and make it a "sporter" and forget the restoration, as it would not be viable.

Feel free to write me for more info when you have answers. I have a number of Brit rifles and know a good bit about them.

the original finish on a lot of them was plain old black paint on all the metal except the bolt body. that should be easy to match.
