What is God to you?
Is he Jesus? Is he G-d? Is he Allah? Is She the Goddess?
To me it doesn't matter---every culture has their own beliefs.
In America, we are conditioned to believe the only God and the only truth is Christianity...just as Muslims are taught that Allah is the only way...just like ancient Egyptians were taught that Horus was the "truth" and the "light"...just like Persians Believed in Mithra (who by the way was known as "the truth and the way", had 12 disciples and was dead then ressurected.)....
Why does it matter what God we believe in?
Seriously---take your hatefulness and stuff it for a moment---as long as we have faith, love, and understanding what's the problem?
Has anyone EVER considered that God, being all powerful and all knowing, may have appeared differently to different people?
Why is that such a hard concept?
Why is it SO hard not to project our hatred and beliefs on others?
Thoughts?

And if the Abrahamic God (Christian, Muslim, Judaism) is SO good, why does He hate so many us, and condemn us to eternal suffering?

There are a lot of good answers here, as well as some typecast, cliche ones.
I am letting the question go to voting.
Thanks for all the feedback.

No hate here. I am just satisfied that God is Imaginary and no one on this planet can prove otherwise.

It matters eternally what you believe in. You may have faith but it might not be saving faith. Here in India there are 330 million gods. Those larger than life ones can be seen to reflect the natural world around them but no amount of meditation to release the spirit from the body will get you to heaven.
Many religions took their folklore from the real truth which is explained in the Bible.

As Richard Heinberg demonstrates in Memories and Visions of Paradise, the Judeo-Christian story of the Garden of Eden is mirrored on every continent and in ...

God being consistent would not appear to teach different truth to people as that would make Him contradictory. His nature is not contradictory.
God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
No, Allah is not Jehova.

Projection? Hatred? That only reflects the lack of certainty in the hater's own belief system.
may you be blessed by coming to the Truth -

Jesus the Lord who realised God said 'No one comes to the father, to God, except by me.'
In other words, no one comes to God except by the Lord. Now the first thing that you have to do by being is to be the Lord.
Jesus the man was that Lord and realised that Lord. And in so doing realised God, the Father behind the Lord.
Jesus the man is no different from you. It is the Lord that has
inspired you with the love and truth of God and the sweetness of life - to endeavour to find a greater reality.
You get what you get from God but the Lord gives you nothing.
So the Lord is not going to give you understanding.
Understanding is of the animal brain. It is not of I. And it is beyond the animal brain that you are endeavouring to reach -to be the Lord of yourself. And to know God.

Gods are an abstract concept, not a physical reality. They are meant as a way to explain the unexplainable (by the primitive mind), provide hope in the face of fear, and eventually control and guide a society by a select few.
Faith = hope, which is nothing more than the opposite of fear. It may cause one to feel better, but it's really no more than a panacea to a weak mind.

God is the creator of all that you see and don't see. He is the almighty. He is our father.
He created us in his image. Man made us live in sin, not God. We did not listen to God, so we were punished. He is wiser than us and understands what we do not. God is all powerful and does not think as we think for we are tainted with sin. To believe in God and Jesus is to have Faith. To know the WORD of God and Jesus is to have understanding. To send your only begotten son to die on a cross at Calvary for all of mankind is LOVE....eternal LOVE!! God is my father; Jesus was the living form of God. They are different, yet the same.
God punishes us as a father would punish his child. God disciplines us because we are his. If you are not disciplined then you are not of God.

Very very seriously, really it does not matter !!
Just enough to know the real "we" within us (and it is relatively much , much easier too, just requires a little 'peep' within!).
If at all and if there is one called by whatever name as "God", He has to be within us too, so it is very good logic to trying finding first 'who' we really are, then the next thing to 'identify' the God within (of course, if and when found).
That is what Indian spirituality is all about (though propounded in so many diverse ways!)

He's graciously giving us a second chance to get it right by obeying Him and showing that we do not want to go the way of Adam and Eve. Why do so many of you say He is condemning us when He is actually doing all He can to prevent us from being self-condemned???

God is the Father,Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit. One night I went in my room and I said
Jesus I am a sinner.
Jesus I believe You died on the cross for me.
Please forgive my sins.
Jesus come into my heart. And all of the sudden,
Jesus filled me with so much peace and love and
The knowledge that I will live forever with Jesus.
Now I have a personal loving relationship with Jesus.

If the same "god" appeared differently to different people, and taught different doctrines, at the end proving to be the same "god," then we have contradicting "god."
