Because in their eyes they don't. They have too much turmoil over something and death is better than living. You never know what is going on inside a person's mind...doesn't matter how "good" their life seems from the outside.

Most likely, people wants to commit suicide because, they think, that hurting yourself "physically" takes away the pain of what going on around you(problems - heartaches, family chaos)
and/or it's like the pain inside(as if you are broken hearted for example) can be overtaken by the physical pain that a person is gives to him/herself.
Also, people commits suicide specially, when they feel that no one is around, thought there are, but they are not aware of it because of the helplessness they are feeling in the moment.
According to the Psychologist, some people before they suicide, usually they are always alone and don't don't too much, and always keep them selves alone,,,,it only shows that too much loneliness, pushes someone else too commit suicide too.
If however you're noticing someone you know who suddenly or starts to behave like this, start showing them some more attention and offer them some companionship.

Ppl who r suicidal r very sick ppl. They have a strong need to leave this Earth because they feel such horrible feelings that they can't stand to live anymore. At one time I felt like this and would wake up with strong urges to jump from m y window. It was a feelilng I could not control. Medicatioo of anti-depressants was the only thing that wa s able to help me. Plus I had intense therapy. If anyone mentions that t hey feel like killing themselves, don't just think that they're playing around. They may act on it one day and sooner than you think...Obviously suicidal ppl. don't think that they have so much going for them. If they did, they wouldn't want to die so fast. Some suicidal persons are taking drugs or/and alcohol and these substances distort their way of feeling and thinking to cause them to have thought or/and mood disorders. After which their minds start thinking soo negatively that they want to choose death over life. It's so unfortunate that some depressed or manic persons get these mood swings or thought disorders that they finally might succeed at overdosing, jumping from a high place or hanging themselves. I feel so awful for such poor souls who opt out for death...As the saying goes its always darkest before the dawn, and tell them this when they're feeling badly and depressed. I just hope that you or anyone you know is not thinking this way. Please, if you know anyone like this, make sure that they get the proper help very soon.

I have some experience with this. The most common reason behind it is hopelessness. The person at the time sees no other way out and concludes death is preferable.
They don't actually want to commit suicide, but they can't see any other way. Some even start to feel better after they've decided to do it out of relief.

Unfortunately I've noticed that people tend to think toward the negative. It is really a shame because you're right many suicidal people do have good things going for them. They just don't put those things into perspective. In college a friend of mine OD'd. I don't know why other than he was depressed and sick. It was sad because he had problems but instead of dealing with them he made a permanent decision to a temporary problem. Suicide is an easy solution for someone's problems thats why people do it.

The only real way to find out is to ask them... but if they were successful, the that would be impossible now would it? Obviously the reasons vary but the feeling is the same. There is no more reason to live or to continue living is to endure a suffering that is unendurable. Different people have different value systems and what is important to some may be trivial to others.

Because they don't realise they have so much going for them. Most people who attempt suicide do so because they think there is nothing worth living for, and are in extreme emotional pain. They see suicide as a way to stop the pain, rather than a way to end it all. They have serious depression, and need help, but they rarely realise it themselves unless they fail in their attempts.
For those whop might think I don't know what I'm talking about, I've been there and have the scars to prove it!

sorry i would use a strong word, 'ignorance'; cause apparently they want to bring an end to their internal and external sufferings, which they cannot express out or mitigate. ironically by committing suicide what they actually do is that they bring an eternal continuity of their suffering cause the moment a suicide is committed there begins a never ending life in hell-fire full of all sorts of never ending miseries.
I hope nobody does it as it is a misconception that one's suffering will end the moment life in this world is prematurely finished.

But who gets to judge how much or how little is going on for other people? You might think someone "has it all", or should be happy, but OBVIOUSLY the person who is suicidal doesn't see it that way.
