I do try and at least once a day to help someone in some way. Whether it be to tell them they are awesome if they are feeling down, to helping an elderly old lady with her groceries. Support my friends in Iraq, which is not as easy as it sounds.
But there are times when I get to self absorbed into me me me me me. And for whatever reason it still takes me a while to figure out why my life isn't going very well. You'd think by now it would be the first think I'd think "am I doing enough for others"?
Some days all it takes all I can just not to be rude, and snippy with people and keep a smile on my face, but I even fail at that sometimes.
But since I am struggling with feeling like I don't deserve God's love and forgiveness, helping others should be the first priority I have, but it's it not.

There is only one person I know of who can tell someone if they are going to hell or not. I have run across a person or two that I think will end up there, but it is not supposed to be for me to judge.
I think I do something to help this world. Although likely not as often as I should, I try to help people when I think they need it. It can be something very small, or a task that never ends. Being kind is the most important. Making someone smile could make their day.
It's this simple things that count.
Be careful out there.

Ah yet another "go to hell" myth told by an atheist. Listen I work in hospital, and despite pretty and media driven charities on hyped up be celebrities, not too many people do anything at all period. Most people are repelled by the homeless, addicts, and people with mental illness. Of course like everyone else the want to be seen on the cover of "Goodie Toodie" giving a buck to charity.
________
It is nice to know that you expect religious people to DO something to help the world. I hope you can expect the SAME for yourself.

Minnie,
I NEVER go out telling people such a thing. I do not believe that it is helpful nor do I believe it is the way of CHRIST and HIS Apostles. I do teach about Jesus Christ and I do talk about HIM with my friends and acquaintances as often as I have an opportunity to do so. I also do home Bible Studies with friends whenever I am able to do so. I attempt to assist the elderly, sing at nursing home(s), bake cookies for others, visit the sick, and make calls every week to those who are not well. I would hope that there are others like me in each and every city around whether they are religious or not does NOT matter, does it?? Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank YOU,
Eds

Every single day for the last 10 years I have done something to help those less fortunate. I help those that live in the world, I dont live for this world , I live for the next. Being religious has NOTHING to do with helping others

Most people do but it would be unwise to tell anyone about it.
Matt.6
[1] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
[2] Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
[3] But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
[4] That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

And is your job criticizing the way other people think? Is that contributing positively to the world?
Most of us do what we do without expectation of thanks or glory. To brag about it in this context would be counterproductive and the antithesis of why we are the way we are.
