I had an ex friend threaten to call the cops and get a lawyer on me for suspecting me of sending 'catalogs' to his house. Didnt send catalogs. If someone is recieving 'catalogs' is that against the law and would he be laughed out of court?

I had an ex who was such a jerk beyond belief, so I sent him pamphlets on hair replacement, penis enhancers, etc...And slapped a Gay Pride sticker on the bumper of his car! That was just my immature anger aloooong time ago when he decided to leave me and three little kids with no money, no car...nothing...so he could "find" himself! I don't recommend venting the way I did some 20 plus years ago, but I did. Besides the bumper sticker, pamphlets and such aren't illegal unless they threaten one in some way..believe me, I know.

If you arranged for them to be sent to him anonymously then it could class as harassment! It's not the things that were sent that the law sees as a problem it's the intent with them to cause distress/annoyance etc. So if you sent catalogs(I'm not saying you did, this is for argument sake) it's like sending pizzas around etc. it had intent to annoy/harass the person, so under law that's not seen as joke - no! As long as you did not send them then don't worry.

just for catalogs?
maybe you should ask why he would go that far for just catalogs? and tell your side of the story.

i guess, maybe for security reason his willing to go that far. with the scams out there, personal info like your name or address is at stake.its a big deal for some people.

If you didn't do it, he won't be able to prove you did it so you have nothing to worry about. I hope.

If the catalogs are what I'm thinking, I could see someone trying to sue for defamation of character or something; maybe even harassment; sexual harassment possibly.

But like I said, if you didn't do it, you didn't do it. End of story.

if you didn't send them, you have nothing to worry about as it can't be proven that you did. no it isn't illegal to send catalogs thru the mail, your friend doesn't have to accept them, yes, a lawyer would tell him this and get a good laugh at the same time, it would never make it to court.
