i went yesterday to the photo lab to copy the contents of the mini Dv tape onto a cd and the guy insisted on keeping the video camera with him too for 3 days(thats how long it would take to get it copied because of the rush) i asked why? He said that without the camera synchronisation would be very bad. the lips would move and the sound would come later. is this correct cause i dont want this either. HELP

Lame excuse. Right, they want to use your camera to transfer your tape, and probably 20 or 30 tapes of other people as well. The video and audio are digital and recorded on the same digital track system. they can not become "unsynchronized" by the process of transfer. They can become unlocked if converted for use in a video editor program, or poorly converted to analog but this should not happen with a straight transfer to DVD.

They don't have a camera to transfer your mini DV to CD. That's it! Never give your camera to them. Otherwise you'll never know what would happen to your equipment.

It sounds like somebody just wants to borrow your camcorder to use for a few days. Go somewhere else.
