Yup, submissive urination. I was reading up on it, and apparently the only way to stop it is to raise your dog's self esteem.

YOU may not be an abuser, but your father is!
First off, it a 1 year old dog is still weeing on the carpet, EITHER, she has not been properly, kindly, and consitently toilet trained (which is the fault of the TRAINER, NOT the dog), OR, she could have an infection making her less able to hold it...which would alert a KIND and CARING owner to the fact that she MAY need to see the vet. Either way, it is the OWNERS responsibility, and if your dad deals with a little pee by doing what you have described, I would wonder what he has done when you HAVEN'T seen him.
WHATEVER the reason for her initial accident, it is your DADS 'fault', either through lack of training, or lack of medical care...YES, accidents happen, even in fully broken, healthy dogs...but I suspect it was NOT her first accident, as your dads reactions were so extreme.
Of COURSE she will now urinate in submission / fear of your father....as would you, or any other being that he saw fit to abuse in such a manner - it is not just dogs who urinate in fear. Of course, if she DOES have a medical issue which has still not had attention, that too could be a contributory factor.
Sorry to sound harsh; none of like to hear things said against our parents, but you did ask ;-)

I agree that your dog pees to because she is frightened and to show submission. She does not realize what she is doing wrong by being hit, and by peeing more she is trying to show submission so she won't be hit anymore.
If he cannot understand this, then the dog does need to find another home. It will get to the point where she will pee more when he is around and and he will lose his cool again and slap her and it becomes a vicious circle.
She deserves more than this.
You might try getting some material on housebreaking and sharing it with your dad. It's a hard habit to break. Both for the dog and the human.

One of the ways dogs show deference to a superior dog is by peeing in his presence, so if a person shows a dog that he is the "top dog," either by demeanor or physical abuse, the dog will keep peeing to show that she understands her place. Unless, of course, she is taught another preferred way to show deference, like shaking paws or some other easy trick.
And of course, don't abuse or let anyone else abuse your dog.

She is showing she is subserviant. While she isn't supposed to be the Alpha, she needs to be loved out of her current state.
Let your dad know that hitting any animal is a crime in every state and at least can cost him some hard earned money and could lead to up to a year in jail.
If you are a minor, talk to your school counselor and they can give you more information or report him should he continue this abuse.
P.S
Allowing abuse to your animal is in itself a form of abuse by not protecting her.
You need to talk to someone.

She is peeing out of anxiety because of your dad hitting her, and this behavior probably will not stop as long as she lives with you. I hope you take her to the Humane Society so she can get a decent home. You should not have any more pets until you're an adult and living on your own.

It's the worse thing he could have done??? What a stupid reaction? Do we do that to a small kid who miss? Young dogs are alike. He got so scared, now the rubbing didnot correct him but made him believe that he should do that not to get hit. I have a small dog who's done it when she was a baby, and by talking no sentences, words, repeating, she got the message, no yelling, no hitting. They don't even know they're doing wrong. It's according that's wrong.

yes this is because he hit her. She as been scared and seems to feel better when she pees all over the place. Dogs normally do that due to the fact that they have had a sudden fright.

You should never hit or yell at your dog. I agree with evryones answer. You should find a new home for the dog because your dad may lose his cool again.

Its funny to say this but possibly that the dog incured a nervous breakdown and nightmares. The dog will stop her unusual peeying if your dad will show his gentleness to her.
