I'm not sure what that website is, but let me just say that anyone who bases their beliefs, or viewpoints based on ANY website doesn't have much intellect. If you want to know about anything, including a religion, you need to experience it yourself. In the case of the Mormon church, I think you really need to talk to someone who is Mormon, and maybe even attend a Sunday service to see what it is like. It is just plain lazy ideology to form opinions based on a website, let alone a website bent and skewed to make a religion look bad.

I didn't know what the CARM website was so I checked it out. They say they are a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to equip Christians and refute error. Hmmmm...Their books and DVDs cost a lot more than the ones I usually buy. I think I'll continue to "equip" myself. Besides, I'm not totally convinced that their idea of "error" is in alignment with mine.

Amen to that! Unfortunately, CARM is far from the only anti-Mormon website. If you want to know what Mormons believe, you should visit sites that are run by actual Mormons. Surprisingly, we actually know what we believe!

Here's some sites I like:

http://www.allaboutmormons.com/ (my site!)
http://www.mormon.org (official LDS site)
http://www.mormonwiki.com/Main_Page (site made by my friends)

Yes.

Just a thought...we (the LDS members) are generally well spoken, educated people. If you encounter something online that says that we believe something utterly ridiculous, cultlike, or outrageous you can be pretty sure that we do not believe exactly what is written.

People need to be aware that so much of what is on the internet is incomplete doctrine, twisted half-truths, and blatant lies.

I'm not mormon, but I live in Utah, and I've never heard of CARM, what is it?

For sure. JW's are more annoying than Mormons. So too are some other cults.
Is what the people at CARM saying true? If it is, then what is the nature of your concern?

It's used to mislead about more than just the Mormons. It targets Wiccans and other Pagans as well

We try to give VALID referances about our beliefs whenever we see the CARM "stuff"

Yes, I have had to deprogram several people's minds because they believe everything on that site. It's frustrating.

By the way, this means a lot coming from you, considering you are an ex-Mormon.
