Heidi, pretty one, since boyhood I have been an atheist, but I never gave it much thought till I discovered R&S. You want to know the truth? The Fundies here convinced me. If that is the purpose, the goal, of Christian Fundamentalists, they deserve a prize. They are doggoned good at it.

Silly fairy tales. Hmmm.
Consider the many fairy-tale inspired wasted lives that we should be grieving for--
1) Mother Theresa -- That poor woman "wasted" her life helping the poor and dying, touching even the untouchables, following that terrible fairy-tale model, Christ. Wow. She could have been living it up in style if she hadn't "wasted" her life.
2) Martin Luther King Jr. -- That poor man, "wasting" his life and even having it ended, by trying to bring the equality that fairy-tale Christ brought to every man, no matter race, color, creed, preference, or social class. What----a----waste.
3) Dietrich Bonhoeffer -- Man alive, this guy just threw away his life, trying to end Hitler's reign of power because that ever present fairy tale Christ led him to believe that Christ would desire an end to the suffering of millions. *Sigh* Such profligate waste.
4) Martin Luther -- Tried to bring the Bible and thus printed literature in general to the working class and the poor, instead of just the elite. Again, that Energizer Bunny Fairy tale Christ. Hooboy. Another one wastes the dust. (misquote intended).
Yeperooni. Christ-led lives are such fairy tale wastes. (If you haven't heard the sarcasm yet, you're not listening).
I won't even begin to point out that without Christ and Christians you wouldn't have hospitals, orphanages, schools etc... because you should already know that.

I've already got my share of issues and mental problems. I don't need any fairy tales and irrational belief systems to disturb me any further than I already I am.

Yeah I am glad that I am no longer an atheist. I had the courage and the honesty to see the Light and know that Jesus loves me and He loves you too and wants you to be in Heaven forever with Him and not be eternally separated from Him. John 3:16 says "For God so Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting eternal life."
I will pray for you that the devil will no longer lie to you about what is true and what is not. Believe me Life and the After life is no fairy tale. Once we die we don't get a second chance to believe and open our eyes to what is true reality and what is fairytale.....

It sounds like you're celebrating freeing yourself from the constraints of someone else's belief system. Good for you. But why rub it in? Do you need the support of others who think like you do? Be centered in yourself and your own belief system--only the weak need to knock others down so they can feel "strong".

if you are so content in your life you wouldn't feel the need to criticize others for what they believe and how they live. obviously you are harboring some resentments. stop trying to control everything and just let go.
i love the thumbs down for speaking the truth.

I don't think we should be too derisive towards the believers. For most of them are unable to break free from their childhood conditioning.
