Butter. I love it, although I limit it in my diet nowadays.

well that's tricky cuz butter is necessary for a lot of baking and for being used like oil, whereas cheese is pretty much unnecessary but makes a lot of things taste better! if i said cheese, then i wouldn't be able to bake much ever again...if i said butter, i could just use oil instead in many cases. i guess i'd have to choose cheese as the one i could live without, as it is less of a staple and more of a luxury.

Butter would have to go! I do a lot of cooking, but not baking, so I wouldn't miss butter nearly as much as I would miss cheese! How would I make lasagna, homemade pizza, omelets, a ton of pasta dishes, etc? I wouldn't know what to do without cheese! (plus, I just love it as it - sliced, with some fruit and dried salami!)

I only ever use butter where necessary in cooking or baking. Cheese the one food I eat every day and would be lost without.

Take cheese... it's a lot more versatile than butter, and there's a lot of different kinds.
