Is it true that breast implants have to be changed about every 5-10 years?

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. They will eventually require replacement. The length of time before a replacement is required varies, but on average implants are replaced every 8-10 years. Again, this varies from patient to patient! Many reasons may require a patient to replace their implants such as deflation, leaking, the patient being unhappy with results, desire to upsize or downsize implants, desire to change fill of implant (from silicone to saline, or saline to silicone), or other personal motivations to remove or replace breast implants. Hope this helps!

I was told by my plastic surgeon that about 15 years is average for replacement. However, two women I know have had theirs for 20+ years. Most women figure that if it's not broke, don't fix it. So as long as they aren't deflated or anything, they leave em.

Its different for everyone. A friend of mine has had hers for 20 years. I've had mine for 3 years and they are fine.
